No, it wasn't because of Kreutz I was just pointing out the mismanagement and lack of concern for our oline and his loss started the madness of schuffleing our line around ever since
Then I agree with you. JA, Tice, and Lovie never addressed the line with the talent, coaching, and depth it needed to make it anything other than the weakest part of the team.
To be fair, this line has been horrible since it fell apart in 2007. Garza moving to center is hardly the crux of the problem.

No but it personified the reasons it is what it has been. Just plugging crap in over and over and expecting something better to happen, instead of finding and developing fresh quality talent

It's more the bad top picks. If Chris Williams and Gabe Carimi fulfilled their draft expectations, the money invested in Bushrod could have been spent on a top interior lineman....we'd be having an entirely different conversation right now.

The OL failures over the years boil down to these:
1. The offensive line often wasn't valued by the Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo regime.
2. When it was valued, and they honestly tried to spend a top draft pick on an OLman, they whiffed.
3. When they tried to bring in a FA talent, they sometimes whiffed too (Orlando Pace, Omiyale etc.)
They just bumbled along in a clueless state, most seasons. The OL failure contributed heavily to the offense overall failing - which ultimately ended in the GM and HC failing and getting fired.
If Emery and Trestman fail to put a decent offensive line on the field, then they too will fail. It's not complicated. It's football 101.

You know what's funny? Terry Shea brought in both Tait and Ruben Brown for his offense. He specifically wanted Tait because his system required "two LT caliber players" to function. Of course, JA then gave him Q Mitchell for LT.
If Shea hadn't gotten those two, we never would have had a solid enough line to get to the SB. Thanks, Terry!
