So, is it: Bushrod - Draftee - Draftee - Louis - Webb?
So, is our oline going to be (LT to RT):
Bushrod - Draftee - Draftee - Louis - Webb
(and with Carimi at swing tackle)?

I think fa isn't over yet and we can still see a stop gap at g or rt
what we might see is a c in draft to cut garza to save his salary

no I don't think thats the plan. But depending on how the draft falls it could. I think they plan on it being Bushrod, Carmi/Brown, Draftee, Louis, Webb/Scott(i think they resign him). Now if the draft falls just so, then very much could happen Bushrod, Draftee/Brown, Draftee, Louis/Brown, Webb/Carimi

I'm hoping that the interior 3 lineman that we end up with as starters, can be a lot better at protecting the pocket for Cutler to step up into, and have the POWER to allow our RB's to run between the tackles.
I don't want to see Garza back no matter what. He gets thrown around like a rag doll. Weak.
We need a real road grader guard and a center who can match up with the big boy dline animals.

Bushrod's name gets inked in at LT and you pencil in both Webb and Carimi at RT may the better man win. Louis at RG if healthy and LG either gets filled in FA yet to come or we draft a guy like Warmack or Cooper in one.
Garza is still the OC until we get a guy to replace him but even if we draft someone I doubt he'll replace Garza this year. Another likelihood is if Webb wins the battle at RT then Carimi backs up at RT and RG and possibly starts in place of Louis if he's slow to recover.
What we do or don't do about another OG gives some indication of how we'll draft. As it stands I think Emery would like to find a starting LG in FA which IMHO frees him up to draft a guy like Ogletree at #20 instead of a lineman.
I believe Urlacher will be back but his days are numbered and if Roach gets an offer he can't refuse he'll be gone. In fact I'm about 90% certain he will be. So we draft Ogletree to play SLB and possibly work him into the middle when Brian finally retires. We seem to have a couple of lower cost OGs still one our shopping list but for now we took care of two of our biggest problems.

I'd like to say they aren't done w/the OL yet. but we are still in need of resiging 3 guys from the D, and Louis from the OL. BU, Roach, Izzy and Louis...2 of those guys have to come back IMO, at least. Preferably BU and Louis, but I'd like Izzy to stay also.

The most important and hardest part has just been acomplished with Bushrod. I think there is a good chance we get a G in free agency still and resign Louis. The great thing is that this significantly improves our options on draft day. We are no longer pigon-holed into picking Oline. We have options.....
But if I had to guess at this point.
Bushrod -- ????-- Garza --Louis/Carimi -- Web
We hopefully draft a guard/center that can compete and win the starting role. I'd love to see Cooper, Warford, Jones (plug in your favorite) and another Guard in free agency.
Also.... Bennett is a definite blocking upgrade to help our tackles out.
So far so good.

Yeah, I agree. I do hope we get Garza's replacement in this draft though.

Yeah, I'm really pleased with today's moves. I wouldn't be surprised if we draft an LB in the first round now. I do hope we get Garza's replacement though. He's the weak link in the oline now. Until we replace him, we're hurting as far as protecting the pocket for Cutler to step up into - and with a better center we would be SO much better in short yardage run situations. I have the gut feeling the Bears will solve the guard problems by the time the dust settles with FA/draft. But I am concerned they'll try to roll with a weak Garza at center for this season. Big mistake. Big mistake, because his play will pull down the performance of the interior OL.

Gotta believe Carimi will be starting at guard this year. You don't keep guys with his power and upside on the bench. Forget competing with Webb at RT, just set him up at LG now and tell him to learn the assignments while Kromer coaches him up on the nuances of the position.
