And I'm quite sure we'll draft one, hopefully with the 2th pick.

We must draft a ten year starter at Center ... and those fuckers are out there in this draft.
LB with Roach gone is somthing that can be addressed.

Unga alone can't take us to the Super Bowl. We need Air Currie back also. He is the greatest WR in the history of the NFL (who never caught a pass).
Unga + Airese = Super Bowl

Emery is doing the right thing right now by not extending people that we do not have to or not restructuring them unless we have to.
Next year we are going to need to pay some serious money for Cutler, Wootton, Wright, Webb and we should get some money of the books right now and avoid tying up a lot more long term.
We extend Marshall to lower his cap hit it will also raise his cap hit next season as we push the money back, the same goes for Peanut. Why not extend peanut next offseason and have his 2014 cap numbe be 3 million, like Bushrod this season, when we really need the money?
I think Emery is trying to avoid getting Flaccoed in 2014 by saving those restructures and extension for next season.

as of now we have lots of Cap Space next offseason but Cutler, Tillman, Jennings, Wooten, Wright and Webb need a new contract + Peppers will get cut or takes a big paycut. No way we carry his Cap Hit in 14/15 season. Need another DE then.

This is what I am worried about with Cutler. The Ravens will no longer be relevant (per the Super Bowl) so long as they are paying under that contract. That kind of money only goes to a P. Manning or Brady and even they would not take it because it hurts their team.

Let me be a little pessimistic, What is Emery doing that is the right things right now. He signed a big upgrade at TE, but that wouldn't be that hard to do since Davis was our starting TE. He signed a LT that may or may not be a good as Webb, depending on who you are talking to. Your right Emery isn't extending or restructuring any players and that is why we are losing all of our FA players to other teams. The only player from last years Bears to get any kind of deal out of Emery is Melton with the tag, other then a couple of one year deals that have to be redone or cut them next year Emery hasn't done much.
Next year we have Wootton Wright and Tillman to sign. As far as Webb goes first he has to make the starting line up and even at that he won't cost that much to sign or replace. Cutler on the other hand might be our biggest player to we have to deal with. I know some of you out there going well if Cutler isn't any good this year maybe the Bears won't offer him a new deal. What if Cutler is good this year but isn't one bit happy that the O line isn't all that much better then the past few years. Can we tag him I think the tag bill for a QB this year is around $14.6 million and Rogers what to be paid $25 million, but sure by cutting Peppers and maybe even Briggs and we will have the money to tag Cutler.
By cutting Peppers and Briggs we save a ton so if I follow you logic we will have the money next year, so why not get the money we need this year and add some good not top but good players to help us win this year, by restructuring a couple of deals. I can go along with you and say the the Bears just want to hold off until next year and keep the money close to home this year. Of course the Bears could have reached out to a few players about restructuring their deals and been told their not interested at what the Bears are willing to offer. As we all know the Bears totally redid the coaching staff and some players just might want to see how that goes before signing on for more.
Does anyone other then me think maybe the Bears aren't interested in winning it big this year and they are looking for a a good season and maybe making the play offs. From a strictly business stand point that would make the most sense. Next year we will have the money to resign or go out in FA and get players we need , we can also restructure deals with our key players to keep them here for the next few years. By doing so if we were to win the SB in 2014 we won't end up like so many other SB winning teams and watch our team fall about because of free agency because most all of our key players have already been signed to long term deals. It would also give the Bears this year to see just who will fit into the new systems and who won't.
