Bears will sign another starting OL

I cant see how the signing of Bushrod precludes the Bears from signing another FA OL and then drafting one at 20 and/or 50 depending who is there. As it stands now, their OT's have been upgraded from poor to possibly average but the IOL remains pathetic. Brown/Garza/Louis/Carimi is absolutely brutal. Moore/Schwartz/Boothe/Reinhart would adding an immediate upgade with a veteran player. All this love for Lance louis is amazing. He graded out below average according to PFF and is coming off an ACL injury, yeah, lets pin our hopes on him. Brwon also graded out below average in the few games he played in and we all know about garza. Carimi is all but assigned swing tackle duty or RG unless he improves by leaps and bounds and beats out webb.

One of the better draft impacts from yesterday was the signing of Levitre by the titans. Almost every mock draft had them selecting either cooper or warmack at 10 so that certainly aides in the falling of those two.

OTOH, the Bills lost an all pro type guard so they may take one of those guys at #8. Either way, Phil needs to add another FA starting OL.

I'm not familiar with their situation. Do they need 2, or does Levitre take care of their needs?

I still think we are going to get a G in FA. That is going to cloud the draft in terms of do we then go for a long time starting G/C at 20, or get a good but maybe not elite LB at 20 and then get whoever might be left at G in the 2nd? We also need a burner WR, but the good news is that Emery is really doing a good job of filling the holes.

I am sure that more holes will open up next year on D with the aging group we have, but he definitely is aggressive about fixing the issues we have. I can see the Bears actually having the luxury of BPA in a few years if he keeps going at this pace.

It just makes too much sense that they add another FA G considering what they have there now. I still believe warmack and cooper will be gone at 20 so they cant rely on any immediate IOL through the draft. Fluker used to be in the mix, but with the bushrod addition I just cant see that happening. Eifert is also out of the picture with the bennett signing. I still think BU comes back on enerys terms with a 1 year deal. I dont see a LB worth the #20 pick but I would choose Minter if I had to. Another interesting name is little Tavon Austin who ran a 4.3 with huge production at WVU. This guy could be a better wes welker and make this offense unbelievable.
I would look at Jones (if healthy) and frederick in round 2.

You can add the Lions to the mix, although I think the they go Joeckel or Fisher, but Warmack is a distinct possibility.

Well before the released Davis, Spaeth, and Toe a lack of cap room would have prevented them from going on but now they seemed to have freed up close to $5 mil and at least some of that could be used that way if the guy Emery wants will come on board for the right price.

My guess is the deal Levitre got has raised expectations beyond what the Bears are willing to pay right now. Remember there's always a second phase to FA where guys who weren't signed right away get more realistic about their worth and end up settling for less. That's where you find the bargains and my guess is that's what Emery is waiting on. I think he has one or two guys in mind and if he can get them for his price he'll move but if not he won't overpay.

I think it's likely Warmack will go before #20 just because of where he's ranked overall but I'd be almost certain Cooper won't. He's more athletic than Warmack but not as physically dominant. He's fallen back in his overall ranking and I seriously doubt he goes before #20.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Doubtful, but I can definitely see them signing veteran competition/depth for the interior, maybe a cheap swing T. The two can typically be found on waivers out of PS, though, and I expect an interior starter to come out of the draft, so I'm not going to get too tied up in it. I think it's time to divert most of our attention to the other side of the ball.

I'd just trade down to #31 and hope that Jones is recovered enough where we can get him at #31.
