don't fool yourself. We need 1 more good target for Cutler. Marshall and Bennett (maybe one year wonder) are his only good targets.

Why are you down on Jeffery German? When he was healthy he was money, he was easily better then Bennett. I know he had a rough year, but the guy had a broken hand, and then a hammy. Chances are he's not going to have those issues again.
We'll need another WR, but a speed guy, and he'll have to be 4th, not a guy that has to be taken early. Not sure about the 2 cb's either, Tillman and Jennings are both fine, but we do need DB help.

Did I miss something because I sure don't remember trading AJ. Right now we have Marshall, AJ and Bennett at WR, as well as Bennett and Rod at TE. That is by far the best receiver group we have had in forever. Sure it would be nice to pick up a fast WR but by far not our greatest need.

So far for me it would be a draft day decision if only because the value of that pick may be higher then if somebody want a specific player badly. I'm not sure about the points value involved with Henry's suggestion but as it stands we have two picks in the top 50 and to me that means two good starters as opposed to five backups. If it were me I wouldn't do it.
I figure that if we can get a top-tier guy with our 20th pick (like a Cooper) then it's a no brainer. Get him. But if we only have 2nd tier talent at #20, then it may make sense to trade down.
I've always figured players taken in the 2nd round, can be excellent 2nd-tier talent guys if you have a smart guy pulling the draft trigger (and Emery seems to be pretty sharp).
The 3rd round CAN still have some hidden gems too. After that the talent drops off the earth. Pretty iffy stuff. Sure you can get some excellent surprise players, but often it's a search for "projects" that may or may not pan out.
I hate it that we don't have a 3rd round pick. It would be outstanding to land another 2nd round pick if we traded down.

All this would be subjective to alot of things most importantly who is avail at 20
It would have to be a draft day move if it happened. As far as needing a WR I don't see that as a need. AJ showed a ton of promise last year and is a solid number 2. I don't think he's another Bennett as far as an injury liability, as theese injuries were more freak incidents not chronic reoccurring things.
A speedy guy to stretch the field would be nice in the later rounds. This could def be addressed with extra picks via a trade down. It's not nearly the urgency as OGx2 OC and LB

Bennett and AJ were both injured last year, but either way, we need a replacement for Johnny Knox (no he wasn't the greatest WR, but he was the prototype for what we needed in just a speedy WR). Also, the 49ers need to get rid of a lot of those picks, and moving up with us will balance the quality vs quantity there.
Soul, I understand your reluctance to trade back, but if I were emery, this is something i'd offer before and during draft day.

I would agree that it would depend on who was still on the board @20, so it would have to be a deal made on draft day.

Where if they stay at 15, they might not get a guy capable of replacing their loss, and still have to many draftees to keep. Makes sense for them to want to trade up to get fewer higher quality guys, where the Bears need multiple holes to fill w/even above average players.
I fully expect them to move up to get Vacarro, just a gut feeling.

Um,Henry? I think you should change your name to Chad Pennington. That is not Henry Burris in the photo you have.
