Brandon Marshall is usually near the top of the NFL in drops. But the guy is an absolute stud WR who more than makes up for those drops. Bennett is a guy like this. Yes, he'll drop some balls, but he will more than make up for these.
Actually, if you look at some of the stats for the greatest receivers to play the game, you'd be surprised by how many had a significant percentage of drops. At least I found this surprising. But they were guys who more than made up for the drops.

Why don't we let the guy put on a Bears uniform and play a couple games before we declare him a bust.

Exactly. It's the %'s, not the count. Marshall gets a 100 balls thrown to him and he drops a few. He's also double and triple covered, and being pushed around as he does it. And not to mention Cutler under pressure throws him balls not on target. So he'll have drops, but he makes up for it. Bennett appears to be the same kind of player to me. Unlike Davis who couldn't catch a handful of water falling out of a boat with nobody around him.

I liked Cook more but this is a more serious approach to solving our TE issues then signing Davis.
this signing also shows that Trestman plans on using the TE in his system which should open things up. If Bennett catches half of what Davis drops can you imagine how many lost drives are cut out lol

The way I see it we paid Davis about $3 mil last year to drop about every other pass thrown to him. Bennett got $2.5 mil and actually caught more passes than the total of the both the catches and drops Davis had. Based on that alone Bennett comes out ahead.......way ahead.
He's getting an average of $4.6 mil per year guaranteed against injury for his first two years here. If he pulls in 50 balls and year and scores 5-6 TDs or more each year then we're getting what we're paying for. And to that we can add his blocking skills which are as good or better than his receiving skills which allowed us to release TWO other TEs and not have to have one who blocks best and one who catches best.
The OP is an obvious troll and that was an obvious troll post. He won't be back and if he does come back he won't be welcomed with open arms by me at any rate.
Edit: Maybe we should run some highlights of Jermichael Finley too. There a guy who has some butter fingers and he's looking for WR kind of money. Bennett can be every bit as good or better and he comes a lot cheaper.

I don't think any of us did kev it was the OP who by his handle alone you can tell is NOT a Bears fan. You're a Bears fan so would that have been your first post as a way of introducing yourself if you intended to stick around? Not likely huh?
