Bears Re-sign DT Nate Collins
Brad Biggs @BradBiggs
#Bears have made another move. DT Nate Collins says he has re-signed with a 1-year contract

30 minutes ago I said that he will not be back
good, I like it. Gives us good good depth at DT and will be cheap

Didn't see that coming, but good for the Bears

Good move, knew it was in the cards, they just didn't want to pay $1.3 to keep him. Let him see what offers exist outside of Chicago and match if they are cheaper or stick to your guns on your low-ball offer if none come in.

I like this move as well. I thought Collins was really starting to show well on the back half of last season. Nice.

Same here.
This makes me feel even better about Emery. He really does seem to know who to keep. I was really concerned that they couldn't tell the good from the bad. I want to see them keep Louis and then I am happy. I also want Url to stay, but I think they do too and it is going to be Urls decision to take or not to take what they offer him.
oh.. and sign one new G also.

Glad to hear it. We only had two DTs on the roster and Collins was a need. I thought he played well last year and I was hoping we'd get him back. Minimum for a 4th year vet this year is $715k so we saved about $600k by not tendering him at lowest tender which is $1.3 mil.
This year Emery has to make every dollar count so now he's throwing nickels around like they were manhole covers, LOL. It's a good signing and that takes care of filling one more hole. Now I'd like to see them draft or sign and UDFA NT who goes 320-330lbs but can still move. We've got to have the lightest bunch of DTs in the NFL. Paea is the heavyweight at 300lbs and Melton and Collins go about 290-295lbs.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

IIRC I've heard the same exact quote about Papa Bear.
