I think this is one of those times when, as Emery indicated, you need to have a half dozen guys listed at a few different positions based on prioritized needs and when your turn comes you take the best one available or you punt if you can still get him a few picks later.

A strategy such as Henry proposed that entails trading your two highest picks for lower picks and more of them is great when you're rebuilding a team and have needs all over but we don't. We're a piece of two away from a championship team and if you can get one or two of those pieces now when you draft that outweighs 3 or 4 extra backups who may or may not pan out.

    Been there, done that.
    If there at 20:
You take Cooper in a heartbeat running to the podium. Huge holes at LG and C and he fills one for sure and might be able to play the other at a high level too.

If there at 50 and LB was taken in the 1st:
    You take Jones.

If you miss those calls, Phil.

Plenty of guys on that list and if patient enough the Bears could find a couple at a discount. Then they can concentrate on bolstering the interior OL with the 1st/2nd picks.

Nice first post. Welcome to the board!

Yeah as it is today and from our POV I'd say you take Cooper or Ogletree in one depending on how the rest of FA goes and what the final decision is regarding Urlacher. If he really can play well enough for two more years then we could pass on Ogletree and look for a LB like Brown in two to fill the SLB spot for now and there are a couple others who fall into that category as well.

If he doesn't like Ogletree then maybe Minter fits better and in that case I definitely think he could trade back a little and get him. If we take LB in one then an interior lineman like Jones would be a great second pick. But this is all as it stands now. A month from now it may all change.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Agreed 100%. We can always draft a LB next year or hope that McClellan could play ILB.

Shea McClellin is not a MLB, he's a DE.

I swear, this is getting worse than the Adrian Peterson to LB or Peanut to safety shit from years back.

With Roach gone, and Urlacher probably gone this year or next, that leaves us with Briggs who will be 33 years old this season - and 34 next season. Basically our entire LB corps from last year will need to be replaced by next year.....or for sure the year after that if Briggs can play at age 35.

It's not a crisis, but it is more than just getting a LB this year and forgetting about it. I'm hoping that with Emery here, we don't live in a perennial crisis mode like we did with Jerry Angelo. Let's be proactive and not get caught with our pants down all the time in these situations.
    Go Bears!
