We know that Earl has hands. We also know that Brandon Lloyd wasn't able to produce much at all this past year with Tom Brady throwing to him in a system perfectly suited for his skills. I doubt that he'll do much more for us.

And you sound exactly like the type of fan who really doesn't know diddly fuck about football just like Urlacher was talking about.

I'm beginning to classify posters Nostra and you fit into the "typical emotional player hater" group who takes one play, a few bad games or even a entire off season and use that as a substitute for the rest of a players career that has otherwise been extremely productive.

You have no real understanding of the game or pro personnel at all to base your judgement on so you make claims like "he's better than Bennett" with nothing else to back them up but some gross inaccuracies. Your probably very good at Madden but you'd make a very lousy GM.

Lloyd is a soon to be 32 year old 10 year vet whose had all of three decent years in a ten year career and has missed more games in his last five years than Bennett has. Bennett is 25 years old, one of the best 3rd down receivers in the NFL (check his stats), just coming into his prime, and under contract for a reasonable amount for another 4 years.

So yeah Mr. Amateur GM lets dump Bennett and sign Lloyd. Great thinking.

Oh and one more thing. These were his stats in the ONE year he played for the Bears. I think your memory isn't quite as good as you think it is if you think that's "pretty good". Next time do a little leg work before you start insulting other posters and stop being so lazy and under educated.

Mighty fine evaluation. I agree if a player drops a ball in preseason, I think that's cause to drop him and pick up a journeyman like Lloyd.

That year he had Turner as OC, and KO as qb and the OL was already falling apart...which means a deep threat guy isn't going to get targeted like the mid range guys. He played in 11 games, even though he only started five. That was when everyone was complaining about KO always checking down, but the OL and OC gave him no choise. Forte and Olsen led in rec's for the team that year; pathetic OL forced an already pathetic OL and bad QB to be worse.

Wanna know how screwed up that year was? KO connected w/Hester more then any other WR, and only Olsen and Forte had more catches then him. Even the 2nd TE had more looks then any other WR then Hester. It went Forte, Olsen, Hester, Clark, R Davis, Lloyd.

What I remember from Lloyd was his circus and clutch catches that helped save the team time and again. I don't want him but the guy was money for when he was on the field...he just wasn't used b/c the OC and QB couldn't use him, per usual stats aren't telling the story. I'd take him if we didn't have 3 guys that were equal to better then him in Marshal, Jeffery and Bennett though.

All 26 of them were clutch circus catches huh Ric? That would be terrific if it were even close to true. But it's not. He always could make the tough ones, it was getting open and making the routine ones he struggled with.

His OC couldn't use him???? Ron Turner was his coach at Illinois and the guy who asked to have him signed. So why would he bring him in and not use him? Come on man Lloyd was a total washout when he was here and we all know that.

He left Chicago, came here to Denver in 2009, had his one "career year" in 2010, was injured most of 2011 and faded right back into one year of mediocrity in St. Louis before having another good year in NE. Ric you'd probably catch 50 passes in that offense with Brady throwing to you. If he was all that valuable why did Belicheck release him. He always uses guy up before he does that so what does that tell you?

Besides the OP is saying he'd be worth more than Bennett which is too dumb for words even though we all found a few to tell him with anyway.

    Bennett >> Lloyd IMO.

Love Orange Crush and don't blame him for that vicious chest injury he had 2 seasons ago, but I agree that he needs to stay on the field more than he has lately. The guy is money when he's healthy and his hands are primo. I wouldn't mind finding a late-draft Knox-like #4WR/return man, but we don't need a FA for that.

Lloyd had a great year (or was it two?) in Denver but he was below average on our rooster and has done nothing to stick in NE. He is also immature... not a team player. He doesn't play Special Teams and he couldn't carry Bennett's jockstrap.

Earl is a solid guy that contributes in many ways. He is a good person, has a great relationship with his QB, a great effort guy and he catches the ball when we need it most.

Call me a homer but I think we have a complete WR group. Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett in the middle and Hester to occasionally give us to stretch the coverage (and that is about it). We have one of the better pass catching RBs in the league and I think we have added a solid TE threat in the middle of the field. That group has more than potential.... they should be downright dangerous. Why Forte wasn't used better in the pass game last year is a mystery. Give us some better Oline play and we should produce in the pass game.
