8 Remaining Questions
1. Which of the Bears currents UFAs are going to be re-signed?
2. Are the Bears done adding UFA from other teams?
3. If not what position and if you want, which specific player?
4. What is the Bears biggest need heading into the draft?
5. What position do you think the Bears will be targeting in the 1st round?
6. Which player do you think they will select if they stay at pick 20?
7. Will the Bears pick multiple OL or LBs in the draft?
8. Will their be any veteran cuts made during the remainder of free agency or after the draft?

1) Of the guys they said they'd like back I think Izzy and Urlacher are most likely followed by Louis and maybe Scott because he's cheap if he signs for a vet minimum. I think now that Roach has left Campbell is the next least likely. I think he'll eventually get a better offer than what the Bears will be willing to pay him. I'd say with Hayden it's 50/50 and only for a very low deal.
2) No but if it happens it will be gradually. The "burst" is over.
3) Moore would be my top guy because it frees us up even more in the first two rounds of the draft as far as taking players who will have an immediate impact and we need two players at positions of need who can make an immediate impact.
4) LB, OG/OC, NT, CB in about that order although the first two are somewhat interchangeable.
5) OG or LB depending on what happens between now and then.
6) Not gonna predict that. They'll probably have a half dozen guys who fit there and they'll take whoever they believe has the best chance of making an immediate impact for them.
7) Maybe
8) Probably

1) I would hope Urlacher, Izzy, and Louis in that order of priority. The others (Scott, Campbell, Hayden) I don't care one way or the other as long as they are cheap. I wouldn't pay much for either. Frankly, I really don't want any of them.
2/3) If the price is reasonable, it would be totally stupid not to sign a vet OG like Moore +/- a vet depth LB. I don't buy for a second the "tight against the cap" bullshit. That's easily fixable (as we've described multiple times) and there's gonna be a cap clearing move or two no matter what even just for #1. A smokescreen is all that is.
4) OL-LB or vice versa
5) I prefer OL
6) Cooper
7) Among our 5 draft picks (assuming no trade downs to acquire more), I expect 1-2 OLs and 1 LB. No, I do not expect more than 1 LB. The other 2-3 picks will be bpas.
8) I would dump Garza in a heartbeat if a C (Jones) is drafted high. I have zero problem with cutting Hester or Weems either. Keep one and only one please.

1. Hope so - 54, Izzy and Louis. But, all for the right price!
2. Hope not.
3. We could use a solid G/C or LB
4. G, C, LB
5. I think a OG, depends on FA
6. Ogletree, Minter... hard to predict
7. Yes, at least 2 oliners, but depends on remaining FA
8. Yes, probably, maybe hester, maybe garza (not likely)...

I think a nineth question needs to be asked before any of those can be answered. What contract restructures are in the pipeline?
After that, I think (pray) we take Barrett Jones @ #20. A guy with his experience, at all positions along the line, with his football intelligence and overall size/athleticism would be the cornerstone of the line for the next 10 years.

I like Jones, but he`s a reach at 20, if both Warmack and Cooper are gone at 20, I would seriously consider Warford at 20, if we are determined to go OG.

If someone wants to give up a couple of picks to move up, I would trade back and still get Jones, but I don't think he would be available beyond pick 28-30. So if no one offers an acceptable trade back deal, I'd spend #20 on Jones. I'm sure he will be an anchor for someone for a decade. And, I wouldn't draft Warford until the second round....he isn't as good as advertised.

The Packers have OL issues too and they need a C so I wouldn't be surprised if they took Jones with their late-1st. Ravens need one too (Birk retired right?) so they are a possibility too at #32 if they don't go LB.

Yep Warford is a cut below the top guys and probably Jones as well. I wouldn't be looking to draft Jones @ #20 because I think he'll go lower, much lower, like second round lower.
But.......because of that injury and him not attending the Combine he's a bit of an enigma right now and his lower status may be based on those two factors alone. By draft day memories grow shorter and he may zoom up the board so who knows. He's definitely a "player" I'd love to have.

Funny thing about belief. I read this and thought "I'll have two opportunities to say I told you so - the first when Jones is drafted before #30 and the second when he is dominating as a C/G for years to come".
He has only slipped because of his injury (that he played through all of last year), not because he isn't the most dominant center in the NCAA.
