Now with this latest move, with the "Face of the Franchise" moving on, and along with new GM, HC, all three coordinators, playbooks, schemes, and a whole army of new players - how can this NOT be considered a full blown rebuild?
Yes. Big changes everywhere you look.
No. It's not a big deal.

SCREWED....
got no more money. Need 2 OL, 2 LB's, CB..... Kay thats 5 player to 5 draft picks, all who have to be starters. Thats just to break even.
The passion of a few, to rule the many, that's Washington D.C.. Where else was that said before, about whom?

The answer is to replace Urlacher and Roach. We've not had a good SLB in so long, that if we got good starters at both spots, this defense will be as good as it was last year, if not better. Just because they're restocking certain positions doesn't mean the defense is going through a real rebuild. We have 2 all pro CB's (I don't give a shit, they were better than the seahawks guys), one of the best DT's in Melton, and a still very good Julius Peppers, not to mention Wooten and McClellan, both of whom are on the rise. Our secondary is the best it's been since 2006, and is getting better. All we need to do is replace 2 guys this year, and it looks like it's gonna happen.

I feel great about the future. I really feel pretty positive about THIS year. The team is rebuilding, and has been since we began with the new GM. Then we swept everyone else out the door at the end of the season. Players are coming and going. And on and on and on.
But this is a "good thing" here.
Emery is FAR from finished with THIS off season's moves. By September it will all make sense.

This could be a really good year. We finally have a top tier tight end, we have a great receiver, a really good QB, and 2 really good running backs. We'll probably draft a linebacker and pick one up in FA. Hopefully one of the guys we have on the roster will prove to be capable. Jeffrey, McClellin, and a now healty Wooten should be improved. Hardin is a wildcard in the fact that he has the speed and size, but can he stay healty. Hopefully we can trade pick and pick up an extra draft pick or 2 and let Emery do some magic.
We are not rebuilding because Brian Urlacher was not very good anymore.
Our team is more talented than last season and it does not matter who we replace Urlacher with the team is still better.
Urlacher means more to us as fans than he does to the Bears on the field.
It can be a quick turnaround rebuild. Plus we're getting younger and injecting talent. Far better to be a talented team rebuilding than one that is in ruins on all fronts.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Yeah...every team in rebuild mode has such pieces to begin with.
So no, it is NOT a rebuild mode, it is mearly a cleaning house mode...scrapping deadweight, and making tough decisions with guys like Lach. Especially considering that they are going to be more focused on offense, you should expect to see a shift in defensive personnel and strategy, and yes...our D is going to slide down the ranks over time, but it *should* be counter balanced by our offense climbing the ranks to compete with the rest of the top offenses in the league.

I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

It is a rebuild to me. Just because we are keeping some important pieces in place doesn't change the fact that radical changes of major importance have taken place.
