Can someone please explain to me
why Hester is still on the team and BU isn't?!
How can you not give someone who's been the face of the franchise for over a decade more money to stick around and not cut a guy like Hester who's lazy, overpaid, overrated and absolutely useless. He's getting paid like $2 fucking million each fucking season and you're telling me that you couldn't find a way to offer BU a little more money to stay with the Bears?! Are people really that naive and retarded to believe that Hester has more left in the tank than Urlacher?
We all knew that we didn't have a lot of cap money this year but why didn't Emery do anything about it? No contract extensions, no restructured deals, no significant cuts or trades. Nothing! With BU gone we are forced to draft a LB with our first pick and must not trade down.
Now we'll need two linebackers, OG, C, a backup QB, CB/NB and maybe another WR. And we still have only five draft picks. Tell me how the Bears can fill that gap quickly?
Business is selling tickets and merchandise. Brian Urlacher leads not only on the field but in selling tickets and merchandise. Whoever made the decision not to keep Brian needs to be fired.
Shame on you, Phil!

It'll be OK Little. I understand your allegiance to Brian, and that's admirable. He's been a great player for us for a long damn time and I would be ashamed of my fellow Bears brothers if we were all able to cast him aside without feeling a little angry or at least depressed about it. With that said, I started coming to grips with the inevitable about mid season when I started seeing Brian missing tackle that he used to make with force, and simply "not getting there" when he used to be able to run down guys like Mike Vick. So, I guess I was kind of ready for this. Ultimately, I respectfully disagree with your assessment that Brian has anything left in the tank, but I do agree with your assessment of Devin. However, I DO believe that Devin still has physical ability left, but his is all mental. Therefore, don't discount the potential that the Bears may be holding on to Devin for trade bait come draft day. The potential is there for us to get a mid round pick for him, or at least sweeten the post on a pick swap with another team. THAT may be an underlying reason for keeping Devin around, and if it doesn't happen, then they can always cut him AFTER the draft.
I know a lot of people are angry with Emery and even Trestman, but I ask you, do you think it was easy for them to let a franchise and famous player leave like that? I'm guessing they all analyzed the hell out of Brian's film last year and they must be convinced that they can get equal or better play from an average replacement.
I'm not willing to go out on a limb for this management/coaching group yet, but I AM willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they have a professional plan in place that we know nothing about.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

Lazy, overrated? who, other then JA and Lovie overates him, and how is he lazy? He's being moved back to KR duties pretty much full time to see if the team can salvage his career, if not he'll be gone next year.
as for BU, who's, as in who HAS, been....HAS BEEN, is a great way of describing Urlacher. I loved him as a player, but he's not been the great player the last few years, and had made plenty of money, and actually was over paid the last few years. BU's whole game is speed, and he doesn't have speed anymore. So why pay him ANYTHING when he cannot play like the team needs him to anymore?
and by not paying 3-5 mil on BU maybe they're able to get a LB and G? and now all you need is a LB and C and CB. Mully/Hanly show made agood point, if you pay him 2 mil that means you are not paying someone else, or OTHERS 2mil. In this instance it IS a zero sum game. If they resign BU, we still need all that going into the draft, by not signing him the bears have the potential to sign 1 or 2 more players, and you have less to sign.

In short, they feel Hester can help in some area and they feel Urlacher can not

It's not Emerys fault that Urlacher doesn't accept his FAIR offer. That's what good GMs do. Have a price and if the player doesn't accept it, move on. We don't have Cap Space and using ALL of it on BU would be a dumb move.
Hester on the other side accepts his role on the team, accepts his salary and has a contract. Emery (w/ Trestman) think BU was worth 2 million, if he thinks he is worth more to the franchise, it's his problem and he is to blame for not coming back.

Hester is under contract and BU wasn't, BU wanted far more then what he is worth today at least to the Bears. As far as Hester goes if he don't have a great year as a return man for the Bears there won't be any offers coming his way from the Bears next year.

Step back off the ledge Little Bear. It's going to be OK. When the team didn't have the $ to sign him the hand writing was on the wall. Signing extensions was (and is) not a option bc it just would mean cap hell next season and maybe even longer. They can't mortgage the future for ANY single player. Time to move on and plan to draft for the future. Sooner rather than later most of the current "D" will need to be replaced. The "Angler" never saw this on either side of the ball but Emery is smarter than J.A. and has a well thought out plan to execute. No "Knee Jerk" reactions anymore.

That's the bottom line. If Hester can't help the team then he'll be gone too. I am confident of that.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
