Or we can pull a 2012 and take an off the wall crap pick..
Emery yesterday said he wants a HC that will be right there w/him during the senior bowl/shriner bowl scouting w/him. I think he'll be working w/the HC to figure out the draft, and that line says it.

This is obviously VERY preliminary, but I'm liking Eric Fisher (LT from Central Michigan) with our pick at #20 and Travis Frederick (Wisconsin Center/Guard) with our second round pick if he's still there. I think Fisher is a real nice blind side pass protector and then we let Carimi and Webb battle it out for the Right side. If Webb wins, then keep Carimi at OG and then we have a new Center in Frederick with lewis as the other Guard. If Carimi can't handle RT, then I think we should switch him to LG as I think he would look better on the left side. I think part of his problem has been playing on the right side. I know this doesn't seem much different, but I did that for a couple of games in HS, and it just felt weird and I ended up back on the left side. It would be different if he was a vet like John Tait was when he switched from the right side to the left, but Carimi is still learning the pro game AND learning a different side. I really think this coaching staff has screwed with our O-Line development up so bad, maybe that's part of Webb's problem too.
Another guy I'm liking is the TE from Michigan State with our 4th round pick (or even 5th round), Dion Simms. Big dude with great hands, had two 100 yard games this season which is pretty good for a TE.
I know we have to address MLB, but I think we should address the O-Line once and see what we can do in FA.

Oh I like the Fredrick pick ill suggest a trade down from 20 to 27ish in exchange for an extra 2nd
So with that I'd go
1-BPA between OL/MLB (olgetree hopefully)
2-Fredrick
2-other position we didn't adress with pick one
3-TE

I'd really like Barrett Jones above all I mean the guy is a stud he played gaurd center and tackle at bama but played this year at C likely where he'd play for us
2 time all sec
2011 Outland winner
2012 Rimington winner
Yes please!

We would love Jake Long if we can get him for what we got for Brandon Marshall. Remember Jake Long ended on I.R. in 2011. See below.

Wow this may be too much for Emery and his new HC to take in at one sitting !
But lets face it ... this has to be OL ... either with a Jake Long or go draft and it has to be OL heavy in the first 3 rounds and that includes TE.
Emery got his feet wet in the last draft and heard too much from the already established coaches. And it showed.
Once again JCut was staring at sky while we got a "tweener" LB/DE with our first pick who may be being groomed to take over Urlachers spot.

I don't know but it seems to me Jones makes a ton of sense... I mean with a resume like that playing in the SEC as a four year starter...c'mon I couldn't fathom how he would make it to us but if he did should be a no brainer
You could have:
Webb/FA-Garza-Jones-Louis/Rookie-Carimi/brown
Also could play jones at gaurd and leave garza at center but garza is a natural gaurd so why pull a Tice and mix em around?
I know it's early but seems good right now, ill be watching him closely Tuesday

Yeah get back to us on what you see. Man if that Webb/FA you list is Jake Long ...
Emery better finally know what is going on here by now.

LMAO well if Long fills that FA spot then I'm not going to insult him by putting Webb in the same slot is him
Never absolutely hated Webb but long would be an upgrade if they had to amputate his injured ankle
I'm very interested in Jones though, says something about a guy if he can win awards at 2 different positions in the sec
And at 6'5 310lbs he could play anywhere although I'd like him at C or G and go FA for a LT, it's setting a guy up for failure IMO asking them to be a LT day one starter as a rookie who isn't "once in a decade" kinda guy

Been thinking along the very same lines, Grizz. The only way we are gonna push Webb down the depth chart is to get a vet LT in FA. This looks likely to be the year where a couple of good candidates may be available (Long, Albert). No way to draft a starting LT at #20. Basically, it's FA or Webb is starting again next year. No bueno there--he's better (and would prob be a solid swing OT)--but he needs way too much help and that limits the offense.
i love the idea of drafting BJones in round 1. He can play OG but projects best as a C from what I've read. He could be our man-in-the-middle OL anchor for the next decade and Garza is down to his final playing year in all likelihood anyway. Jones should be draft-able at #20 and may even be so with a small trade down into the late 20s, netting another pick in the process.
Just adding those two new starters alone would shore up this OL immensely.
