Vilma was added back when Mangini traded him to the Saints when he was coaching the Jets so he was not added just this year
Sharper was added this year and not sure about Greer
plus Vilma would not be needed if Urlacher is healthy cause they both play mlb and Urlacher is waaaaay better then Vilma
My main thing is the last time the Bears won the superbowl we had an offensive head coach and a guru for a DC. It works. I like what they did with that and I give credit to the HC for making that kind of move. Sometimes ego gets in the way like some coaches we know...........it didnt with him. You can have all the right pieces in place but without proper coaching things will look like crap like Turners's two stints here
Bad defenses can have a good game. But to say that their defense is what made them a Super Bowl contender is laughable. Their defense was average at best. Yes, we need an overhaul. That wasn't the point of my post. It was to show that the defense the Saints had wasn't what got them to the playoffs.
If I recall the saints D scored 10 times including the playoffs. I thought one of the announcers in the SB said that. I do recall the saints d scoring alot because that was one of my bright sides in FF. lol
The biggest difference between the saints and the bears is coaching. Our coaches are too stupid to make changes and they still with the same lame ass game plan. Sean Payton made some great decisions coaching this game. He kept Peyton Manning off the field in the second quarter. He went for it on 4th and goal instead of kicking a fieldgoal. He also used his time outs correctly which is something we have not seen with the bears this year. The onside kick was impressive. Even the challenge was pretty good. Lovie would have burned a Time out and then challenged the play.

saints also feel same back after the 2006 season and only beat 2 teams with a winning record, spin that on why saints different in 2007 or 2008
failing to see the relevance to what the saints did in 2008, but I'll play along. The saints miracle season was inspired by katrina and a new coach with new unseen plays..etc. 2008 came along with no inspiration, bad/horrible defense but still had a very high powered offense (1st in the NFL in points)...still wanna compare us to them?
Did I say that? No. Just saying that the Saints went into a nosedive after 06 just like the Bears. They just pulled out of it faster.
oh I know you didn't say that... I was just asking and trying to get a chuckle out of people
I'm not the type to try to put words in people's mouths... if I ask if you mean something, I'm asking it legitimately and if you say you don't mean it, you won't hear another word from me on it
Jimmors, yardage isn't everything on D, it's the points. A team that racks up over 400 yards and only scores 3, that's pretty amazing. The D is based a lot like the Bears, bend don't break, and win the Turn over battle. They did all of that.
The D is not marketdly improved from the previous year, but it is better, and that is all they really needed from them.
Right now, we still need to look at improving our O and D...and depth, w/out a lot of draft picks. Holt won't save us, although he might be able to speed the learning curve of the wr's, his talent will not be seen on the field.
thats why I also included points allowed in my one post

that would explain 2007( katrina was 2006),, not 2008.. fail again
