As I would imagine that he could be had at a reasonable price now that he's coming off of being suspended for like a year and has been cut by the Cleveland Browns, does anyone think that the folks in Halas Hall would consider Donte Stallworth as a possibility in upgrading the team's WR corps? I know that the Bears have cut guys before who have committed crimes less damning than what Stallworth did, but he has served his time and paid his dues, I think, so I think the Bears should consider signing him.

Reasonable price now...
One of the main reasons the Bears would go after him, if they do anyway.
but he has served his time and paid his dues
Sorry, but I disagree. The judge maybe let him off the hook, but I don't. He killed someone while driving intoxicated. Didn't even get a year in prison. If the average joe did that, he would of been in a federal pound you in the ass prison.
Just my opinion, not ripping you or the post you made. I had the same thought when the Browns cut Stallworth. I just don't think the Bears will look into it though.

My ex's brother was driving drunk one night, wound up killing a guy. He got about five years if I remember right.
My opinion, he didn't pay enough of a penalty for what happened but I truely don't know the entire story about him. I know he was drunk but I don't know if the person he hit was even paying attention. I just think that the bears should skip over him.
Ya I tend to skip on off the field issue guys. I don't think that story ever really came out, the family of the guy didn't want the entire story to come out either. I heard a lot of reports saying the guy wasn't just crossing a street but something more akin to an interstate, I believe he also was intoxicated, and unlike some people on our team who wreck their car after getting drunk, Stallworth actually stayed at the scene and called the cops himself.
Doesn't dismiss what Stallworth does, but I wouldn't go around labelling him either. No court is going to just dismiss what happened, some even if the family wanted them to. Much more to that story then we will know for a long time. All that said, still not taking him or Plax, or Marshall, or TO.
Thanks guys. I didn't know what the general mood was on the issue up in Chicago since I'm down here in Tennessee. I know that the Bears don't pride themselves on messing with off the field people, but I figured that they might look at the issues with Donte Stallworth differently. I mean, the Bears cut Tank Johnson and Cedric Benson for lesser crimes than what Stallworth did. Still, there is a thing with Christians that they believe in second chances, and I think Stallworth would, unlike other miscreants, respect his second shot at making a living playing professional football.
But I don't excuse his actions. Damn. I don't know how else to explain it.
