Sanchez would welcome Pennington return to Jets

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reports Mark Sanchez is secure enough not to consider Chad Pennington a threat to his job and so excited about the possibility of the ex-Jet returning to his roots to back him up that he all but got on the phone to Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum begging them to bring him back.
As Sanchez was leaving the Super Bowl media headquarters Friday, I asked him about Pennington expressing interest in returning to the Jets.
"That is awesome," Sanchez said. "Chad is a guy who knows so much about playing in this league and hopefully he doesn't get tired of me asking questions."
"I think there would be parts of it that might be difficult because he's going to want to play as well," Sanchez said. "But I think the way the team is headed, I think we're set in that respect at quarterback. I'm confident in my ability, in playing and the experience I got this year. But I think it can only help us. I don't think it will cause any friction, just the type of guy he is from what I hear from other people. It would be a joy to have him."
Sanchez has never met Pennington. "Kellen (Clemens) thinks the world of him," he said. "I'm sure I would, too.
