I know he was a big hero at UT. He won national championships playing for the Vols in 1938 and 1940.

I was a little surprised on NFL Top 10 Football Factories of All-Time that Florida wasn't mentioned on there. I can only speculate this is the case because of all the busts at quarterback that have come out of Gainesville. But there have been other great players to come out of Florida, notably Todd Collinsworth, Wilbur Marshall, Neal Anderson, Emmitt Smith, etc. Maybe it was because Florida has only been building solid football teams since the late 1970s, when its streak of consecutive winning seasons began.

What do you think about Will Muschamp as your new head coach? What's he going to do about the offense? Is he going to keep the spread intact or is he going to go to a pro-style of offense?
Don't forget about the great Jack Youngblood...he was UF's lone HOFer until Emmitt was enshrined this year.

At his introductory presser, Muschamp said he was gonna run a pro-style offense and right now the hot rumor getting play is Charlie Weis is expected to be named OC. Not sure I buy an NFL OC the caliber of Weis taking a "demotion" to the college ranks, but supposedly the possibility of a lockout is causing some assistants to look to college for employment. We shall see....

Not everyone thinks going to the NCAA is a demotion.

I would actually welcome the Florida Gators going back to a pro-style offense again. I didn't like the spread one bit. It did a number to us, I know that, and I just didn't like it because it's so quirky. I don't know if Florida would have ever been as dynamic on offense in that system again without a player like Tim Tebow.

Tennessee runs a lot of vertical passing patterns. When our young players grow up and start playing like men, they are going to be a handful for teams in the SEC to handle. QB Tyler Bray is going to be a special player, but he has an awful lot of growing up to do in order to reach his full potential. That slashing his throat he did last night? That was ridiculous of him to do that. I can't believe that someone hasn't told him that that's against the rules no matter what league you're in.

True, but I meant that in monetary terms moreso than literally (hence the quotation marks). While the word is that Weis could be paid a cool mil in Gainesville, UF has been reluctant to ante up for assistants. But even IF he comes to Gainesville, he could likely name his destination as an OC in the NFL whenever he decided to return.

The spread has become so prevalent now in the college game that it's not as effective as it used to be when only a handful of teams ran it and you might only see a spread offense once or twice a year. DCs have learned how to defend it and the defensive players are faster and more accustomed to playing against it...even in high school. As with any scheme though, the edge is in the design and playcalling. Of course, it helps when you have a Tim Tebow and a Percy Harvin too lol. I like the move back to the pro-style as well.

BTW, I'm a BIG Justin Hunter fan...maybe we can get him here in 2-3 years...

    Bump....

Any takers on my sig request?
