I think some of you need to keep in perspective that the NBA draft is 60 players total, when your first pick to initially work with is 28 (yes I know the euro was pick 23), it's the equivalent of 118th overall pick in the NFL draft... that's somewhere in the 4th round. That's why not much is expected of the non-lottery NBA picks. Like the NFL, stars can definitely be found in the middle of the draft, but it's more rare than working with first round talent.

Butka, I don't hav a problem working the cap...the problem was the guy we actually drafted wasn't what we needed, he's a tweener that cannot shoot, handle the ball but plays good D. In a few years he's gonna be a tweener that migth be a slightly better shot, w/slightly better ball skills and plays good D. We have that in spades. The Euro Stiff we could have gotten w/the 30th pick.
If there was no SG/SF at that postion, we should have drafted a PF to replace Boozer in a few years. And there were PF's that fit the mold, ex and not the best availble JuJuan Johnson. He can play D, and score inside/outside...which is what we wanted from Boozer but didn't get. The reason I use him is b/c he has a good work ethic and is intent on getting better...which is supposedly why we brought in the tweener we did. And again I'm not sure Johnson was even the best available. Boozer will be gone and we will need to get someone.
The back end of the draft in the NBA needs to be for guys that might be able to replace your bad contracts a few years down the line and we didn't do that, each year they don't work to replace Boozer, is a year wasted. The Euro's best quality is his scoring...and he's not that good at it....we could have gotten a guy in this draft to sit and develop, instead we got two that won't.

in basketball Im never excited about a draft pick out of the top ten so Im with you that Im skeptical these two will contribute anything to our team. But the fact is noone probably wanted our picks and first rounders are guaranteed contracts. I knew we would get some euro trash that wont be on the roster for a few seasons just to save on cap space to squeeze in a Rose max contract and see if we can use the midlevel on a SG.

I understand the cap issues. I don't understand throwing two picks away as if your team is set. We aren't, Booz needs replaced sooner then later, so do our SG's....w/guys that can shoot and defend. We didn't address either of those issues in this draft. This draft was weak at the top end talent, but had a lot of depth, guys that will not be all stars, but will be solid. We could have used this draft to get a guy to, 3-4 yrs down, replace/upgrade one of our need positions, and we didn't.
