NCAA visits UNC by via facebook AGAIN

this takes a special kind of STUPID, after the ncaa last year admitted caught the investigation based on facebook and twitter photo's posted at parties, to see a year later same fools AGAIN posting on facebook and not expecting the NCAA to investigate, incredibly dumb

    NCAA visits UNC again

The NCAA returned to the University of North Carolina campus this week to interview at least one current football player.

UNC spokesman Kevin Best confirmed Thursday that the NCAA had returned to campus this week but declined to offer any specifics, saying the visit was part of the "on-going investigation."

According to an ESPN.com report citing unnamed sources Thursday, an NCAA investigator was in Chapel Hill to interview Tar Heels defensive lineman Quinton Coples about a post-NFL draft party he attended in Washington, D.C., this month. Photos of Coples with former UNC defensive tackle Marvin Austin and former UNC defensive end Robert Quinn, the first-round pick of the St. Louis Rams, appeared on Facebook and on the website EliteDCMag.com, according to the ESPN report, which stated that the NCAA wanted to know how Coples paid for the trip's expenses.

The NCAA is stupid. Just stupid. Half of their rules are so outdated that it's crazy. Guys like Bruce Pearl and Jim Tressel should have never been put into the positions they were in when they felt compelled to lie to the NCAA pertaining to the "violations" of the organization's rules. What's wrong with former teammates paying for you to fly out to Washington, D.C. to attend a post-NFL Draft party with some of his former college teammates? It's stupid, and really, really silly that the NCAA cares about these sorts of things.

Slippery slope there dagan.. "IF" that's allowed, why can't Pro athelte's and rich booster's pay for top athlete's to go to their school's, and have these players/booster's gie them trips everywhere, free houses for their parents, etc and call it just "free gifts for some friends or ex-teamates?.. drawing the line is the problem

Oh, I don't disagree with you there. It's just that the NCAA needs to look at these situations on a case-by-case basis rather than lump all of them up under one principle potential set of violations.
