The worst part is that this POS is a repeat offender who intends to injury players. He left the ice and drove his shoulder into Hossa head yet the officials miss that. When Shaw got his penalty they sent him to the box and then while Smith layed on the ice acting the officals talked it over and kicked him out of the game. You would think bringing out a stretcher and seeing the replay would impact the decision to kick Torres out of the game.

I bet Shanahan will suspend him one game.

Absolutely 4th. That was a "bounty" kind of a hit. I didn't see the game but that "hit" is all over the internet this AM. When they show the shot from end of the rink you can clearly see that Torres puts Hossa in is sights and skates right at him in complete disregard for anything else but to build up momentum for a hit. As the play develops he's not paying attention to anything else but his plan to zero in for a hit on Hossa. When Hossa lost the puck and turned back into him it just made at all that much easier for Torres to nail him and once he left his feet his intent to injure was even more clear.

Gamma if all they do is suspend that guy for one game then they aren't gonna put a stop to "hatchet jobs" like that. At a minimum he should be suspended for the duration of this series and handed a huge fine. I thin he should be suspended for th duration of the playoffs period! As for the refs and linesman, they need to be called on the carpet by the league and made to review that video with the NFL's supervisor of officials. Four guys couldn't have missed that hit they just didn't have the cojones to make the call each on probably looking at the other to do it.

This is pure bullshit. The Hawks got the same kind of treatment against the f'n Canucks last year. These teams are going after our top players with an intent to injure and weaken us and it's time the NFL stepped in with some heavy duty fines and suspension. Christ, Shaw inadvertently runs into a goalie trying to avoid him and they toss him but let the shit ride? Suspend the player and the f'n coach too. when there is a clear intent to injure. You can't tell me that teams don't plan to do it if they get the chance. Torres was looking for his chance and when he saw it he took it.

This crap has to stop. If they allow Torres back into this series I would set him up with a hit that would knock his teeth out and if that didn't do it I'd get my goon to take him out in a fight. Torres is a punk and if the league won't punish this crap then to me it's good old fashioned old style vigilante justice. Teams know how to take care of business when shit like this happens so just give the Hawks a shot at him while the refs ignore that one. That was bullshit!
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Unbelievable. 1) he launched himself upwards, not a through hit. 2) Hossa's head was the principle point of contact. 3) injury on the play. 4) Torres is a dick (repeat offender), he's had a 4 game suspension for his hit on Eberle last April.

Torres will get suspended after the game, no doubt about it.

    Go Hawks!

2012 Stanley Cup playoffs -- Marian Hossa of Chicago Blackhawks released from hospital after scary Raffi Torres hit - ESPN Chicago

    Marian Hossa released from hospital

CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa was taken off the ice on a stretcher and briefly hospitalized after being hit by Phoenix's Raffi Torres in the first period of Game 3 of their opening-round playoff series on Tuesday night.
Hossa was near the boards at center ice and had just turned and passed the puck when Torres left his skates and delivered a late shot with his shoulder that knocked Hossa to the ice. Hossa was down for about five minutes as medical personnel rushed immediately to his side, and then was taken off of the ice.
Hossa, who led the Blackhawks with 77 points this season, was taken to the hospital and released Tuesday night, the Blackhawks said. He is expected to recover completely, but there is no timetable for his return.
"After initial evaluation on the ice, (Hossa) was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further testing, which yielded encouraging results," team physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement given by the Blackhawks after Chicago's 3-2 overtime loss. "He has been released from the hospital and we are monitoring him closely at home."
Torres, who had run-ins with the Blackhawks previously while with Vancouver, wasn't penalized. Torres is facing an NHL hearing for the hit, according to a source familiar with the situation. The hearing is expected to be within the next 24 hours, and the NHL wants it to be done in person, according to the source. When a hearing is done in person, the penalty could be longer than five games. Torres could waive the in-person requirement and leave himself open to a longer penalty after a conference call.
Last season, in Game 3 of the first-round series, Torres delivered a hard hit to Brent Seabrook.
"First off, I hope he's all right," Torres said after the game. "But as far as the hit goes, I felt like it was a hockey play. I was just trying to finish my hit out there, and, as I said, I hope he's all right."
Seconds after the hit, Chicago's Brandon Bollig was given a 10-minute misconduct for roughing.
"It's tough. You saw the hit," Chicago's Patrick Kane said between periods. "I think it'll be reviewed by the league. It's just tough you don't get a power play out of it."
That Torres did not draw a penalty brought a pointed response from Chicago coach Joel Quenneville.
"It was a brutal hit," Quenneville said. "I saw exactly what happened. It was right in front of me. How four guys missed it was hard. The refereeing tonight was a disgrace."

A red haired, hockey playing, Mexican. Something aint right with this guy. If Shanny gives any less than 10 days he's a chump.

One thing which bothered me was the crowd at the UC. After the hit Torres just went out and played without any hissing or booing. I know that doesn't mean shit but it is a show of support to Hossa.

Right now I hate the officials more than the Canucks and redwings. The last 3 years we keep getting screwed in the playoffs with piss poor officiating. 2 years ago the Sharks and Flyers each had a game where they were penalty free. Pronger had free reign on delivering cheap shots on players. Last year the Torres drills Seabrook with his shoulder right after serving a suspension. The Canucks organization cried like bitching on not getting calls and in game 7 they got their wish and the officials put on the blinders. This years series there have been several missed calls where the Coyotes have had 6 men on the ice and there is no call. Yesterdays game torres does not get ejected and the countless missed calls on too many men on the ice. The tripping call of Jamal Mayers or game 2 goalie interference call on Toews where Mike Smith make the contact and not Toews. Start calling the penalties and start penalizing players that make contact to the head with their shoulder. The fucking Sedin twin should have been penalized for his shoulder shot to Duncan Keiths head yet Mr Inconsistant Shanahan said it was clean. Maybe the hawks should call up a few players and start targeting the star players on the opposing teams. Maybe the Hawks should ram Shane Doans head into the boards because that will only draw a 2 minute penalty and a 2500 dollar fine.

I hope the Canucks lose tonight and Hossa is fine.

    Rant over.

Shanahan is a chump and will always remain a chump. He is one of the worst guys you can give this position to because of his history of playing the game. Maybe the NHL can replace him with Ty Domi, Bobby Clark, Dale Hunter or Marty McSorley.
