Wasn't Kurt Warner an Arena League player?
Yeah, and so was Rashied Davis and a dozen or more other mostly forgettable AFL players who've appeared on NFL rosters. So what's your point?

Point being that 1) It's possible to make a successful AFL to NFL transition and 2) Don't count him out until you see him play on an NFL field.
And for every "bust" AFL player to attempt the NFL, I can't point out at least 10 (and probably a lot more) busted players who made the normal transition from NCAA to the NFL.
As Kurt has proven... it's not what you've done... it's what you DO that matters the most.

I 'get' if i say "Blue}- you try and say 'green" right away.. but seriously,, the thread was making fun of a rival team that instead of signing real talent in Free agency, went out and got a fricken arena football player as their only signing, for completely failing so far in free agency.

contrary to what you believe, I am not disagreeing with you just to disagree with you. I never said it was a good signing, or a bad signing. Its a wait and see situation. Make fun of them all you want for signing an Arena League player, that still will not prove anything. He could wind up being a real nice player in the NFL, or he could wind up being an immense bust. Point being, you do not know. Hell, he could wind up burning us for a few touchdowns when we play the pack.
Id be upset if the tables were turned, yes. But I will not make fun of a team for taking a chance on someone who has shown that they have talent.

While I'm not exactly thrilled with our first FA signing, I'll wait until I see what this kid has on the field. You can NEVER have too many good receivers (as you should know being a bears fan, dabears54
) One more body that Rodgers can molest opposing defenses with won't hurt anything, and he can return kicks which we sorely lacked last season.
Free Agency and the offseason is far from over. If this is all we've done when all is said and done then I'll worry. Signing every FA available doesn't exactly have a history of working either (see: Redskins, Washington). We didn't do a damn thing last FA either and we went 11-5, so I'm not going to go crazy.

Sad but true 54. If that was the case there'd be so much wailing and cursing around here that it would be hard to get anything else but how soon to get rid of Lovie and JA discussed. That's the real point for those of you who don't get it.!
The Packers have two of the better WR in the league so signing an AFL wideout doesn't seem to be high on the list of priorities for them compared to other areas of need. So it's worth a chuckle at the expense of a rival. Or at least it is for those of us with a sense of humor.
What's sadder yet is that some of you defend the move far more than you ever would if it were the Bears that did it and the national media will give them a total pass because they're the Packers, small town darlings of the NFL, where if it were the Bears it would be 10 days of scorn and ridicule.
Sometimes this place amazes me with both it's lack of loyalty and it's lack of humor. It's ridiculous.

Likewise.... you and your ilk will chuckle SOLEY because it's the packers. If the Titan's did it, there wouldn't even be a mention of it.
Works both ways bub.
And all Benji was doing was saying wait until he plays before deciding it's a bust.

and yet benj if he signed with the bears and posters said it was a good signing you and others would call them delusional homers , that defend anything the bears do-for defending the signing and we need to get real players..
yet when the table is turned you defend it for another team, but not when the team you root for does it? Strange

Exactly soul.. and that was my POINT.. its not so much the arena player as ITS THEIR ONLY SIGNING, which if the tables turned be def-con 10 here about how our management sucks for only getting an arena player..and an arena player at a poistion they don't need someone.
isn't the "idea" of a rival board to take jabs when your rival doesn't make moves?.. geez
I know if the tables were reversed and packers had signed peppers/taylor and all bears did was sign an arean player there should we be alot of jabbing about it

Having reading problems again? Didn't I already said I wouldn't be happy?
I am NOT defending the packers. I am simply taking a wait and see approach with the signing. Same thing as I would do if it were the Bears.
