PurpleJoker, I honestly don't know too much about your DB situation, what's your assessment of it? I just remember hearing they only have 3 CB's or something. On the Vikings, I honestly put them in the same category as the Bears in "could be great, could suck". I think Favre at 40 with an ankle problem and the WR maladies, and Peterson's fumbles are big causes for concern, just as Cutler's INT's, Chicago's horrible drafting and questionable, at best, offensive line should bring sobriety to fans of both teams. I honestly have some hopes of improvement with the changes made, (for the bears) but I'm unwilling to go all out and guarantee the playoffs unless I'm in "Homer" mode. I think the Packers have the best chance to win the division, but I wouldn't be too surprised if any (or all) of the teams made the playoffs.

The CB situation is a concern. Especially tonight against the Saints. Griffin's & Cook's injuries hurt and really killed any depth at all at CB. The latest news that I read though is Griffin will give it a shot tonight. The bottom line though is this.... If the front four can get pressure, the secondary's job gets MUCH EASIER.

There's been tons of speculation about if/when the Saints go four wide and how the Vikings will handle that. Frankly, I WANT the Saints to go four wide because that leaves only one more blocker to try to neutralize the Vikings' front four. I like the Vikings' chances against only six blockers.

As far as the Vikings' season is concerned... I think they'll win between 10 & 12 games, PROVIDED Favre makes it through his umpteenth season injury free. Rice's injury hurts but it is only six weeks and if the Vikings can go .500 during those 6 weeks, I think they'll be ok.

I honestly think the Vikes will unfortunately (lol) be ok, provided Favre stays healthy. Even with a few of your best receivers out, Favre makes crap receivers better than they really are, and he has pretty much his entire career. Your offensive line still looks beastly, you still have AP (who has hopefully for your sake worked out the fumblitis he had at the end of last season), and your defensive line is absolutely insane. Not even the justice system can block them. If you do worse this season I can see heads rolling in MN. Hopefully you just do 'OK' though and Ziggy signs Chilly to a fat 10 year contract extension!

It is named, 'Brett Favres 1000 excuses', is it not? That, my friend, is Bear fan talking smack about the Vikings already! ...snip...

To be fair PJ, that thread started wayy back when Farve was a Packer! and I love having other Division Rival fans here, makes it all the sweeter when the beloved go crazy on them! :D

Im hoping that with GB's weaknesses in the 2ndary, as well with MIN's Injuries, that The Bears WRs can take advantage of this and put themselves in the drivers seat for the playoffs

If you would like to deal in technicalities, I can deal in technicalities.

For what it's worth, that thread's life began, according to it, on January 27, 2010 at 4:39pm. However, if you say that it began way back when I will concede your point.

Please replace my original example thread then with this one. Link. As this one was started on September 9, 2010 at 6:46pm. Oh wait! That's today isn't it!?

I wont deny that, and if you notice, I havent posted in that new one :)

Minny did not look that good tonight, Farve looked in late season tiredness already. Then again, NO didnt look that sharp either, I suppose thats what you get for the opening game.

Your next point.... When have I ever talked shit about this Bears on this board?
are you kidding me?? same old puprple joker.lol

-You just rattled off all of the reasons that the Broncos turned Cutler loose. What Cutler hasn't learned and NEEDS to learn to be a Super Bowl caliber QB is how to take care of the football.

-but now much of the rest of the team needs attention.

    -
Usually I don't comment on this stuff but I gotta ask....

After this year, don't you feel just a little strange runnin' smack about INT totals?
    http://www.dabears.com/search.php?searchid=5640

yep you never talk smack or talk shit, except all the times you do

Therefore, the name calling is something that I am just unwilling to do

you "name call" anyone that disagree with you a 'homer" or not intelligent.. so please don't try that nonsense, we hav e been through that before : )

    here ya go:

Meh. It is just the way things go around here. Like I said, I have learned to live with it.

The defense looked decent in spurts. The O-Line provided protection until McKinnie went down with a finger injury.

It was the first game of the season and with the injuries I didn't expect the Vikings to win last night. Heck, I thought they might get blown out. However, I am pleased that they were competitive and had a chance to win at the end in New Orleans.

As far as the Saints not looking sharp, let's keep in mind that both of these teams met in the NFC title game last year because of how good they are. I would imagine that as the schedule wears on, the Saints, and hopefully, the Vikings will both begin to look more and more like their 2009 selves.

The Saints really never looked all that great to me, even in the playoffs last year. They seemed to do just enough not to lose for the most part, and that's about it. I never had any "holy *&$@ this is a good team" moments. If you had a competent quarterback and a halfback that had held on to the football you would have won that playoff game pretty easily. The Vikings were much more talented than the Saints, IMO.
