again just because 'all you care about is this year" by itself has alot of "downside and long term ramifications. And if they dont win with moss and go 8-8, what was the "benefit"? and as said all that money and disgruntled other players is a "downside", you can't just look at one side.
And can't say moss helps tremendously and claim that isn't speculative and may.may not happen so who cares? right?

Your downsides are simply potential results based on how players may/may not feel regarding their circumstances. Regarding Moss' onfield contribution "potential", you don't acquire a player based on what they might not do just like you don't pass on player based on how other players might feel it affects them.
MN is all in on this one but that's their current state. Favre was an all in play. In August 09 they sold 2000 season tickets and 6000 single game day of the Favre announcement, in August. So they have been in a "who cares" mode ever since then because with them it is all about this year. If Ziggy doesn't care about long-term why should anyone else?

so then teams should AALL F/A players because only "upside" and "you don't acquire a player based on what they might not do "..
So signing Gaines adams last year had no downside, right? as "you don't acquire a player based on what they might not do "..

Stay on topic...Moss to MN. The upside he brings that team THIS YEAR outweighs the "potential" downsides you mentioned. Once the season ends, those things you mentioned may or may not occur as you mentioned so any talk about them is speculative.

isn't that the "defination" of downside? stating what "may" happen negatively?
isn't the defination of upside? stating what may' happen positively.
So the "downside" Of moss to MN is he isn't good and doesn't improve team, he causes a lockerroom distraction, the other players resent all the money spent on him and favre, while the get nothing
The upside he brings that team THIS YEAR outweighs the "potential" downsides you mentioned.
And again glad you see their "may" be downside now.. that was my ONLY point
and all your talk about moss brings..may or may not occur as you mentioend , so any talk about them is speculative.
can't have it both ways..

Never changed. I still think overall this is a good move by MN. Could anything happen, yeah, but to say it will happen is not correct. The only way he doesn't help this team is if he's not on the field.

agree 100%- to say he could be good just speculative and could anything happen? sure.
whch was my only point NO ONE knows the future good or bad, so can't say "never" to either the upside OR downside as both ARE a possibility( and in randy's case agree with you the 'upside" much more likely, but doesn't mean the downside doesn't exist)
