Take yards for instance... so a guy puts up 400 passing yards.
what they DONT tell you is how many of those yards were important, and what were garbage. there's a reason they have a phrase called "padding the stats"

or sacks. did a player get a sack when the game was on the line? or did he get it in Garbage time??

stats lie. So basing a player's caliber off of stats is by LOGIC... a retarded thing to do. they lie.
you dont go writing books or papers or anything if your information is based on lies and half truths.... unless you write the bible... BA-ZING!

but really... Stats dont tell the whole story. go back and add up stats for the same guys during obvious PRESSURE situtations and THATS where you get the big picture.

anyone can be good in this league under good conditions... it's how you play when your under the gun that makes you a champion.

Football Outsiders has advanced stats that take the situation into account. Red Zone, 3rd down, field position.... all that stuff is taken into account with their stats.
