Broncos turn to rookie Tebow at QB as Orton nurses sore ribs
Tebow Time has arrived for the Denver Broncos. Rookie quarterback Tim Tebow will make his first NFL start Sunday at Oakland after starter Kyle Orton was limited in practice this week because of bruised ribs, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Saturday, citing a league source. A source told NFL Network insider Albert Breer on Saturday night that Orton, who was injured during last Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, didn't receive treatment after the game, and the problem grew worse during the week. Orton took all the "mental reps" in practices -- one reason why the possibility that he could play was kept alive -- but Tebow received the first-team reps all week. A Broncos spokesman said Saturday the team didn't have an announcement about its quarterback situation and that Orton was still considered questionable. The Denver Post reported that Orton would travel for the game against the AFC West rival Raiders. Under now-fired coach Josh McDaniels, the Broncos traded three draft picks last April to move up and select Tebow 25th overall, but he has made just cameo appearances in six games this season. Tebow has run 12 times for 28 yards and three touchdowns, and his only pass went for a 3-yard score to Spencer Larsen during a Week 10 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs. Orton ranks fourth in the NFL with 3,653 passing yards this season, but the Broncos have struggled with him at quarterback, going 5-18 over his last 23 games as the starter.

Had to, KO was not getting it done, even in a damn near record breaking year, time to sit him and see what you have in this 1st round qb.

Anyone get to/have to sit through this game; I'm interested to see how Tebow actually looked, stat's didn't look horrible for a rookies first start.

Just saw his 40 yard TD run, looked good had some good downfield blocks but he is pretty quick for a big guy.

Hmmmmm...think they want Cutler back yet? Or did we still get hosed on this deal? lol

No I don't think they want Cutler back; and yes I still think we got hosed on the deal; them screwing up what we gave them doesn't mean we ended up w/a sweeter pot...I never said KO was better then Cutler, I said he Cutler was not worth 2 1sts and a 3rd AND KO. BIG Difference. I would have rather used one of those two firsts on an OL and a rook qb, and let KO be good enough to be replaced last year/this year and had a better OL. Take a look at how well some of these young qb's are looking on worse teams and there's no reason to believe they couldn't have been playing at that high or higher of a level here, ecspecially if we get the right OL.
And I'm not blaming KO either, he has no run support, wr's are not great, and the play calling on the O side made it easy to defend. But if your not getting it done, regardless of the reason, there is no reason not to take a look at the kid you drafted to see what he has.
KO is a solid starter until you find your franchise guy, he's just not franchise himself. Until Cutler starts having winning seasons(congrats on his first one) and starts getting post season wins, he's in the same boat.

Orton, two firsts and a third for Cutler and Knox FWIW

K.
I'm kinda liking where we are in relation to where Denver is, but yeah. Cool.

Again McDaniels F'n it all up is a side for what we spent we could have had one of these nice young rook qb's, a better OL, and been in the same/similar position. And we could have had knox w/or w/out that trade is Knox is not FWIW. Also keep in mind the amount of key injuries they actually had on D and OL which contributed to that record.
As for this season, I'm happy we're where we are at, but considering the amt of key injuries(2nd/3rd string qb's) we got to face, we could just as easily be a sub .500 team again this year, and it really doesn't matter that they we got a few more wins. Next year will probably be the key to if the team has really turned the corner...another year like post sb and it was just another fluke year, but if we again compete for the nfcn, and in the playoffs the coaches have truly taken the next step.
