I've heard this story once. I personally think that we need to go after at least one OL outside of what we get in the draft, as well as pick up Asomugha in free agency. Personally, I think Ryan Kalil, Logan Mankins, and Asomugha need to all three be picked up in free agency. With the number of players that will be discarded who either didn't make a major difference on this season's roster, or the those who we choose not to foot the bill for the salaries for whatever reason, I think we need to focus on those three players, plus draft well for a change in the higher rounds as well as continue the steller lower round draft choices that Jerry Angelo is noted for attaining for the Bears.

I would have figured him as a main target, and then we could lure in Ryan Harris......................

I'm starting to back down a little bit on my barking for Asomugha (can never remember his first name). I think the problem is going to be that he is a predominantly man coverage corner, while we need someone who is going to be more adept at dropping off into zone converage. Some names that were thrown out to me by KML in another thread earlier were Lito Sheppard and Jason Allen.

It looks like Champ Bailey may be out there as well and he probably won't command the $$$ that Asomugha will. Whatever direction we go to provide talent in the secondary we also need to give equal consideration to the Oline.

I look at it this way. Our window for winning a Super Bowl with Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and company is closing fast. We need to invest in talent and do so soon. I don't think that Nnamdi Asomugha will have a hard time learning to play zone coverage since he's young and has wheels on him. I say go for him, but if not him, definitely go for Champ Bailey, even though I worry that he's starting to age a lot as of now. (soulman, didn't you say he's 32 years old?)

I did indeed but the guy stays in tremendous shape and from what I've observed he hasn't lost a step yet. It seems at this point in time that the Broncos have decided not to pursue him and I don't know of any reason why. He's not hurt and he's still one of the best cover corners in the league. There are quite a few guys still playing in the secondaries around the league that are his age or older and are still very productive players. He should be good for another three or four years. He's worth a look see if the Bears feel they need veteran CB help.

I could see signing him to a three year contract. I don't see what it can hurt.
