Clay Mathews still struggles against run...
Well as brought up before and some dismissed that mathews problems against the run did not exist, and he while a great pass rusher still isn't a complete player yet and can't handle the run very good- here's some food for thought on subject( and why when we play them we need to keep pounding the rock)..
It wasn't entirely clear why the Packers' defense was weak in that direction, but "Sound FX" made clear the Steelers' assessment. At one point, running backs coach Kirby Wilson points to linebacker
Clay Matthews' position on a grease board.
Wilson tells backup running back Isaac Redman that the Steelers would target Matthews for the entire game. He doesn't want to take on the run," Wilson said. "He's a pass-rush specialist. He wants to pass rush Mike Vick. He wants to pass rush Matthew Stafford. ... We're going to keep pounding and make this guy quit."
We then see Matthews manning the right side of the Steelers offense, recognizing a formation that suggests the Steelers were planning to run in his direction.
"Watch the power! Watch the power!" Matthews says.
At the snap, Steelers guard Chris Kemoeatu pulls toward Matthews and flattens him. Running back Rashard Mendenhall scoots by on his way to a 19-yard run.
Next, Matthews is on the bench shaking his head about the play, noting that he recognized what was coming but lamenting that Kemoeatu is " just a big boy."

So... how did that "make this guy quit" work out for 'em?

pretty good, as they did slice them when went at him- unfort as football a team game other parts of their team did fail and over-all it was a Pitts loss, but running at mathews was effective

I couldn't care less how he does vs the run. He had close to the most sacks in the entire NFL and was two votes from DMVP. Capers uses him to rush passers plain and simple. When you have one of the most physically gifted playmaking lbs in the NFL you want him going after the guy that has the football the most, which is the qb. Your argument is moot.

LOL.. ok so you don't care if your OLB can't play the run- Hope your coaching staff feles the same way!,, and as teasm go more and more at him, you will still be happy he can't play the run and is neautralized by them running at him, so can't be effective in the pass rush.. execellant strategy there!

Well he can punch 'em in the kidney with his super bowl ring now as they come at him.

Funny how this story says he struggles against the run yet in the biggest game of his career he causes mendanhall to fumble the ball. The funniest part about that fumble was listening to Kevin Greene on the side line telling Mathews it is time to make a play and he did. Second most of in not all of his arguments are moot.

Matthews didn't cause that fumble. I think it was raji that also hit mendenhall at the same time and his helmet caused the fumble.
The steelers had been running all over matthews all game.

No Matthews forced the fumble, he was credited with it and the announcers were talking about it. There was a short video of Kevin Greene on the side line talking to Matthews about making a play.

Yes, Joe Buck and the matthews nut licking crew were talking about it.
Watch the replay and you will see that he never touched the ball and the other player that hit mendenhall was actually the one that poked it out.
I watched the game, saw the play, rewatched it several times. Mathews absolutely did not cause that fumble. Not sure how the announcers saying it was him proves anything.
