Bailey's House On The Market, Agent Says.....

Despite reopening negotiations with the Broncos earlier this week Champ Bailey's agent has confirmed that Bailey's $1.6 million dollar home is on the market. He also said that, although Bailey hasn't ruled out re-signing with Denver, he would prefer to play the remaining years of his career with a winning team who can contend for championships.

That would most likley count Denver out since they're beginning a major overhaul and rebuilding process which they seem intent on doing with younger players and reducing operating costs.

Looks like Champ may be in play and he'd look pretty nice in navy and orange filling that LCB spot opposite Tillman. It would go a long way towards making our pass defense as effective as our run defense.

I have no desire to pick him up. He's another over-the-hiller that will be overpaid wherever he goes and will not produce.

Champ has been good for years, I think he's got a couple left. It would definitely be a stop gap, and would only be worth it if the price was right. But if that price is right, HELL YA

So are you an expert on the Broncos players as well as the Bears players BDM? How many times did you see him play last season?

The guy is still a shut down CB and future HOF canidate even at age 33. I watched him shutdown some of the top guys in the league over the past year despite playing in a defense who, without Dumerville, had very little in the way of a pass rush. The guys been a pro-bowler for 10 of his 12 seasons including this past year.

He's still far from over-the-hill as you claim, and since he's never lacked in production in the past what proof do you have that he will now or in the future. None that's what. You seem to state opinion as though it were fact. Overpaid????? I'd say that all depends on what someone is willing to pay him. If he helps you to win a Super-Bowl just how much is he worth anyhow? Even at 33 he's shown no signs of deterioration in his play BossK. You're right, for the right price he'd be a great pickup.

Haha, calm down there Leroy. Is he your dad or something?

He might very well have a year or two left in the tank, but we have an estimated 40 mil in cap space. I can't see using up a fourth of it on a corner to join our top ranked D when our bottom feeding O needs a lot of help.

Signing him won't improve us enough to win a superbowl, due to the fact that it would strangle funds for other players.

I know how FA tends to go, and a 10 year pro bowler will find someone willing to pay him twice what he's worth at the ripe young age of 33. Its very very unusual to sign someone like this and get the value paid back in return.

So I don't see that picking him up is going to be realistic, or beneficial.

I don't think we could afford to shell out a $40 mil deal either and if that's what it takes then I agree, some other contender will have to pony up. But........if no other team with a better chance at a SB appearance than the Bears does any serious courting he may be willing to come for less than that. He's so much as said that the chance for a championship is of equal or greater importance than the money. He's definitely not hurting and he's already gotten one record setting deal so far.

He started out with Washington and with Shanahan there coupled with Snyders deep pockets and willingness to overpay for talent I'd say that they'd be on his list despite their record. I mean who wouldn't want to have a chance to play with Rex "Fvck It I'm Goin' Deep" Grossman.:laughing-019:

I think he can be a difference maker but not at $10 mil per year. We'd be better off to spend it on an inside pass rusher who'd make our current CB's look a little better.

Id rather have an OL or a Safety. But seeing as that wont happen...sure...id take Bailey. And im sure he wouldnt mind coming to chicago and joining a defense with Urlacher, Briggs and peppers on the roster...that would make his job easier.

Yeah, I guess I base everything off of how I see his contract playing/paying out. Somebody is going to pay him a ton of money. Personally I'd rather use that money on Oline.

Two interesting current developments BDM. The "house on the market move" may have been a nice ploy because now team VP John Elway is trying to make nicey nice and says they definitely want Bailey back and put the previous offer back on the table. In a typical latter day oops move by the Donkeys, now that Richard Seymour got a guarantee of $25 mil on a two year deal, the Broncos $15 mil of guarantees on a four year deal doesn't look so appealing anymore and it's rumored that his agent is asking for a significant up in the Bronco's ante.

If Bailey really hopes for that kind of a payday then his best move may to rejoin the Redskins and Shanny to take advantage of Snyder's deep pockets and free spending ways.

The other is the release of Atogwe by the Rams. This is he guy we all wanted last offseason and he should come far cheaper than Bailey I would think. Any interest we show in Atogwe puts Manning on notice that we're willing to move on and that maybe he shouldn't have been so quick not to re-sign. I like a safety rotation of Atogwe at FS, Harris at SS with Wright as a part of the rotation better than I like one with Manning in that equation.
