War Room Jerry says that they're looking for a QB to develop but any guy who plays in Martz's system is gonna have to have a very good pro arm. The Steve Fullers, Shane Matthews, and Danny Weurffels of the world need not apply. Those guy were only marginally effective in a run oriented short passing type offense. Martz's system isn't like that.
Understand ... but I've seen him play and the arm isn't as bad as the Mel Combines of the world are saying. Besides, how many bombs are thrown in every game ? 3, 4,5 ? Most routes are between what 8-15yds. And in Martz's system these are anticipation throws right ( before the receiver breaks ) ? He can handle that. imo. Odds are he won't get drafted by the Bears anyways. Otherwise, just sayin.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

But maybe he's a decent prospect as an UDFA if he's got an NFL arm. It's not the bombs that concern me. Even Orton could crank up and go vertical, although not very accurately. It's the 20 yard outs and deep seem routes that I worry about. Those throws need to be hard tight spirals that get there quick. Too much air or hang time and it's a sure pick against NFL DB's.

Those are the kind of throws scouts want to see because those are your big play passes and what keeps the opposition from sitting on your short game or your running game.

If u go on Youtube and check out his reels , you'll see a guy with a decent if not good arm. More zip than they say. Throws alot of liners, not floaters. Give it a look u might be a little surprised. I'd try to sign him to a FA contract if possible.

That being the case he may be a prospect to look at as a FA signing. The thing is, as we've learned over past mistakes, any QB has to have a very strong arm to play in Chicago if he's to lead a passing team. The game manager guys were ok when we had a top 5 running game but that's no longer the case. Martz wants to pass and he'll want guys with a big arm. But that doesn't say that McElroy doesn't rank among them. His rare intelleigence coupled with a decent arm may make him a surprise "find" for some team.

If McElroy had a little more talent they wouldn't be afraid of his intelligence as some scouts were as they are ok that Gabbert has a brain. I'd be ok if they drafted him in the 6th round.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
