I'd have to agree. A 6' 5" tall guy who's one of your best pass catchers isn't being used to his fullest extent when you turn him into a blocking back.

But more to soulman's point, I don't really think any of them (Ward, Randle El, Smith, Jones) were drafted to be QB's. They were drafted as athletes that could be utilized at other positions.

I'd also like to point out that Urlacher was a safety in college. Hardly a bust because he was converted to LB. Defense sees these types of shifts more often than offense, perhaps because teams are more willing to embrace the thought of coaching them up on that side of the ball.

That's exactly what I was talking about. To imply that anyone is a bust just because he isn't starting at the position he was drafted to play doesn't make him a bust if he's converted to another position and thrives. Although I used the college QB to NFL WR as an example there are just tons of guys playing at positions different from what they played when drafted.

I don't even see CWill as a bust at LT yet because he really hasn't been given much of a shot at it. If he fails to start there but turns out to be a very productive OG he's not a bust either.

He's gotten better at it but he'll never be mistaken for a blocking FB or an inline blocking TE. Unga and Manu should have those roles this year.
