Sorry LB but that first rounder needs to be either an OT or a DT. Whichever we don't get in one we take best available in two. Later round guys like McClain don't give us the impact help we need at DT now. I also wouldn't worry about an OG all that much early in the draft. The supply in FA his excellent and we can get an immediate starter there and then an OG/C prospect in mid to late rounds.
Now put OG's like Joseph, Blalock, and Yanda at the top of your Oline FA list and Rice and Floyd at the top of the FA WR list and you've got a plan for your initital FA pursuits. Guys like Clabo come next since we draft an OT in the first two rounds and we still have CWill to give it another shot. McIntosh would be a nice second tier FA pick up as well. The Bears were interested in getting him in trade a few years back.

Well, I believe Smith, Carimi, Castonzo, Solder and Sherrod will be long gone before the 29th pick. Maybe we can pick up an OT or C via Free Agency. So let's take a look at some OGs.
- Volume 4. -
Free Agency
- OT Rashad Butler, Houston Texans (6'4'' - 308 lbs.)
or
- C Kyle Cook, Cincinnati Bengals (6'3'' - 312 lbs.)
Next in line:
- WR James Jones, Green Bay Packers (6'1'' - 208 lbs.)
- LB Justin Durant, Jacksonville Jaguars (6'1'' - 240 lbs.)
or
- LB James Anderson, Carolina Panthers (6'2'' - 235 lbs.)
Draft
1st round: C/OG Mike Pouncey, Forida (6'5'' - 303 lbs.) or OG Danny Watkins, Baylor (6'3'' - 310 lbs.)
2nd round: DT Jarvis Jenkins, Clemson (6'3'' - 315 lbs.) or DT Stephen Paea, Oregon State (6'1'' - 303 lbs.)
3rd round: CB Jalil Brown, Colorado (6'1'' - 204 lbs.)
4th round: LB Chris Carter, Fresno State (6'1'' - 248 lbs.) or LB Jeremy Beal, Oklahoma (6'2'' - 262 lbs.)
5th round: WR Austin Pettis, Boise State (6'3'' - 209 lbs.) or WR Stephen Burton, West Texas A&M (6'1'' - 221 lbs.)
6th round: C Jake Kirkpatrick, Texas Christian (6'2'' - 300 lbs.)
----------------
LT: Butler
LG: Williams
C: Kreutz/Kirkpatrick
RG: Pouncey
RT: Webb
What do you guys think?

I think the only OG the Bears would consider at #29 is Pouncey and that's just because they can also see him replacing Olin next year. Watkins age goes against him and we can get guys in FA who are the same age with NFL experience and I think that's a better route to follow. There are also quite a few more OG's who will fall to the 3rd and 4th rounds who could still be quality players.
Right now I think the top of the Bears board is; Carimi, Liuget, Pouncey, Sherrod in that order. I think Paea is next but they'd trade down to get him. Who they take depends on who's still there at #29. The highest likelihood may be Pouncey and Sherrod in the Oline and Paea in the Dline. That's the three top guys left at positions that are our greatest need. If either Carimi or Liuget were still there we grab one of them before the clock even ran out.
Brown and Pettis are solid picks where you have them but I know nothing of the other guys.
Don't know anything about your FA guys except for Jones and he's not a #1 WR and little different than what we already have in Bennett. If we make any kind of splash in FA this is where it will come in the form of Rice or Floyd IMO. Butler isn't exactly a name that's on everybodies tongue as a LT so either he's some undiscovered steal or no better than what we already have.

So does Omiyale but he doesn't play either all that well so how do we know Butler isn't OMG v2.0?
Floyd won't break the bank like Rice probably will. At 30 Floyd is looking for that last big payday but at this point in his career he has no real upside like Rice has. I may be wrong but I'm guessing Rice's offers will almost double Floyd's. Plus Floyd has both the size and experience we need. Like I said he's the closest we can come to getting Cutler his Brandon Marshall type guy.
Yikes. If Jackson were penciled in as a starter, I would assume that every other guard in camp got injured. I question his ability to make a roster right now, and I damn well don't think he can start. Kirkpatrick is such an overachiever I wouldn't grab him earlier than the fifth and I'd still have trouble qualifying that pick as anything more than iffy value on an area of need.
If our only additions to the OL were a couple late rounders (yes, both of those guys are late rounders), then I would give JA a massive fail for the draft.

I saw that and it's a joke to think that a guy who at best ranks as a mid to late 2nd round picks would magically rise to the mid first. Austin maybe a talented played but he's been known to be inconsistent, take plays off, and have off field issues besides the gift from an agent thing. If somehow those factors have disappeared overnight then I think he could rate a late first round pick but that hasn't happened as far as I know.
If he does mature and turn up his motor he could be a real steal in round two or he could be another Marcus Harrison who was also once rated as first round talent.

That is the thing with the NFL Draft. It is just like a Las Vegas crap shoot. You never know what you are going to get in a player who is drafted. In my opinion, as I have said many times, we cannot afford to draft a DT in the first round, so going after Austin or Nevis in the second round sounds ideal. Maybe then, in the third, we can look into going after a WR or a CB.
