If I was him I would put myself in a full body cast whenever I'm not on the football field. He MIGHT avoid breaking/pulling/twisting/discombobulating himself that way.

Pennington shouldn't have been playing basketball. This sort of thing has happened to so many athletes. As I said earlier in the thread, there was Aaron Boone, who, the winter after hitting the ALCS winning homer against the Red Sox for the Yankees, played a pickup game of basketball and tore his ACL. He didn't stay with the Yankees long after that, because we went out and traded Alfonso Soriano to the Texas Rangers for Alex Rodriguez.
