Temporary stay granted; lockout back in force

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals grants the NFL a stay of the lower court ruling that ended the lockout. More...
Don't fib like that or you'll have a nose like pinocchio, LOL.

Judge Bye's position is very well taken when considered strictly from a legal point of view. No emergency exists and the league can hardly claim that the injunction creates chaos when they have written contingency plans in place to resume operations and in fact did on Friday.

This was a political decision and voted on just like Congress, straight down party lines. Two Bush appointed Republicans and a Clinton Democrat. No wonder they're pro business so now they can screw the fans like Bush screwed the country. They may start claiming that kicking tees are WMD. LOL

Whatever happened to the rule that Judge Nelson imposed on the two disputing parties requiring them to gather sometime in the early to middle part of this month?

Thank God you're not or we'd have to string you up by that left nut you were so willing to give a while ago.

Hey now, that was if the Red Sox could go back to being a cursed franchise. That was pure heaven right there when they were.

Now, I would give my left nut if the Bears suddenly didn't need to make any moves and could sign Nnamdi Asomugha. Ike Taylor is a close second on my list of wants for CB in free agency.

yep, as was saying this court ALOT more pro business and would overturn it- and that's what happened- no suprise to me.

And seriously sick of BOTH SIDES.. hated that the union walekd away from the table in march, hated that letter godell did in the WSJ, which did nothing but flame the situation, hate the players taking shots at owners, hate the sniping from BOTH SIDES.. andyou know my feeling on lawyers and courts all to well! : )

that is why- jsut want BOTH sides to realize how futile all this is- No one is going to win.. one side Will win in court, but meaningless becuase both sides already dead set in position and when that happens the "bargaining chip" of winning in court pretty meaningless, as the 2 sides still need to come togther for an agreement not the courts( they will not make an agreement).. its jsut an "ego stroke" now that harms all- which is why do not care anymore who ins or loses in this and wy take no plesure, all its costing is valuable time and money to lawyers,, such a waste

You were right. I thought the appeals court had more than 3 members and of course wasn't aware of the political makeup. Can see the pro business bent but if you read Bye's dissent I've gotta think they'll have a hard time with allowing the owners to sustain the lockout indefinitely which is why Judge Nelson ordered it lifted to begin with. I don't think the can get her decision over turned without looking like totally biased fools.

But..............this isn't getting anybody anywhere. It's now May and time to get back to work for the NFL. Free Agency, mini camps, rookie camps, offseason conditioning, contract negotiations, etc. this is what needs to be going on right now. This has deteriorated into one huge pissing match and now everybodies shoes and cuffs are covered with piss. Time to get back to the table. I agree with you. Nothing even vaguely resembling a settlement will come from the courts. The court ordered mediation is about the only hope left for a new CBA. Otherwise it's back to 2010 rules for one more year and they still have the same old problems to solve.

yep we agree Soul- and that's my biggest fear.. a "bandaid" for now, and back to 2010 rules, which solves nothing, and "overhangs" the whole season and right back to same nonsense, rhetoric and "buzzkill" after the season..which We both agree ruins football long term and turns many fans off. That BOTH sides can't "let it go", and realize this, so sad, fire all the lawyers( andfive that $50 mill save din fees to NFL charities), get godell his exec committee, and smith and the players exec committee, shut them in a room together( not seperate rooms as have now), and not let them out until the deal is done, after 8-9 hours of their hot breath and stinkign room, cooler heads and wanting out will prevail and get it done : )... I know.. i know just dreaming...
