Lockout Lifted Free Agent List [CBS Sports]

    Posted by Andy Benoit

The lockout is lifted…for now. The NFL will file an appeal with the Eighth Circuit Court on Tuesday seeking an immediate stay. If that stay is not granted, the 2011 League Year will begin.

With the absence of a new CBA, the 2011 League Year will almost certainly be under 2010 League Year rules. That would mean no free agency for players who do not have six years of accrued experience. Thus, like last year, a large portion of the top-flight younger free agents will not hit the market, but instead, will remain with their current club after being tendered as restricted free agents. RFA tenders were issued before the lockout. So were franchise tags. As you're about to see, this significantly decreases the quality of the 2011 free agent pool.

This in mind, here is a list of the noteworthy players at each position who will be available on the open market as unrestricted free agents. (The players are listed in no particular order, though the better players are listed near the top.) If a player’s name is not on the list, it means he’s been tendered as an RFA or franchise tagged. This list does not include the small number of veterans who are still under contract with their current team but are all but guaranteed to be available at some point (such as Donovan McNabb, Vince Young, etc.) It also inlcudes recognizable players who were not given RFA tenders (though there were very, very few of them).

I just puked in my mouth a little.

That list is not confidence inspiring and we better to some damage in the draft if that is what we are looking at.

Windy I'd really question the accuracy of that list. I haven't got time to check every players status but two that we've often talked about are missing. Malcom Floyd is an UFA and so is Tyson Clabo. Neither has been franchised and they can't be tendered as a RFA.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Go after Randy Moss. Jay need a big WR this year.
