    The NFC North Adds

On day 1 the North adds two great talents at OL, another potential nightmare DL, and........a QB that probably won't pan out? It was the worst QB draft in quite some time, Wtf were they thinking?

alot of experts liked ponder... i'd not call that a disaster.. only time will tell if its a good/bad decision,, FWIW CBS sports grded it an "A", so not all think it was a bad move or will not work out... and many did think he could be the best of the bunch...only disaster I saw was atlanta giving up so much for jones.. that was crazy

    CBS sports:

No. 29: Bears select: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin GradeHe fills a major need. He is a tough guy who will start right away. Mike Tice loves him. He's his kind of lineman. B+

No. 32: Packers select: Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State GradeThey need a left tackle for the future and they get one here. He will be a good player in a year. The Packers can be patient. B+

No. 12: Vikings select: Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State GradeI love this pick. I think he will be the best in this class. Smart. Tough. Sees the field. Great move, Vikings. A

No. 13: Lions select: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn GradeThis is a steal. He was the top player on my board. Now he plays next to Suh. Good luck handling that tandem for years to come. A+

    Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State
    6-3, 227 pounds
Ponder is tough, savvy, can make all the throws and will win football games from the shoulders up. He's the one quarterback I would go to bat for on draft day and I think he ends up being the best quarterback to come out of the class.

It's not hard tone the best of the bunch when the bunch was mediocre to begin with.

I'm giddy cause all the local minny fans were going crazy over locker, and were 100% sure they would get him. I could hear the collective wind being sucked right out of every minny fan in town here.

true- just saying i wouldn't call it a "disaster", and while personally not a fan of FSU Qb's..can easily see Ponder as a decent pro QB... a disaster more along the lines of their hershell walker trade, or taking troy williamson, when nobody thought he was a top pick.. at least ponder has alot of people saying he is a legit NFL QB... only time will tell if turns out true.. i'd call it more an "eyebrow' raiser... and with fat pat gone, and kevin suspened for 4 games to start season,w as suprised one of the DT's not going there..

I'm sure neither of us would mind seeing our teams put it in his butt again this season. I doubt he's stupid enough to come out of retirement again though. Wait. this is Favre I'm talking about........never mind.

Fairley makes me worry a bit. Hopefully the "low motor" stigma that made him slip comes true. Otherwise.....whoa!
