Cedric Benson says Carson palmer shouldn't come back

In the opinion of running back Cedric Benson, it wouldn't be a good idea for quarterback Carson Palmer to return to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rebuffed in a request for a trade, Palmer has said he would rather retire than play for the Bengals again.

"It wouldn't be healthy for the team to bring him back," Benson said on Sirius' Late Hits radio program Tuesday night. "To bring him back would be detrimental to the team. If he's there and not happy, he's not gonna give us his best."

What about disgruntled wide receiver Chad Ochocinco?

"For this team to be a winner, management needs to make changes," Benson said.
Judging from how the Bengals have been operating lately, drafting wide receiver A.J. Green and quarterback Andy Dalton, that's exactly what management intends to do: change the status quo in Cincinnati.

Well Benson is certainly an expert in being disgruntled and not giving his best so if any would know it's him.

Cedric wasn't a good fit for chicago.... FACT.

Do I think those 2 arrests were 100% his fault... not even a little and considering the Charges got dropped, it would seem I'm not the only one.

Do I think what he's saying is in the Context in which everyone is going to take it.... Nope.
Carson Palmer is acting like a world class douche, and far bigger clown than Benson ever was here in chicago. He's found his team and he's taking up for his teamates. your starting QB is giving a big ole' middle finger to the organization including the players and I personally like the move.

if Jay said he wouldn't play another single down for chicago, and acted out like palmer??? I'd back anyone of our guys who would say the same thing...

this isn't about Benson... it's about Palmer but Benson's the easier bad guy.

yep, that's what made me smile so much!.. to see benson after he he complained his whole time here and not happy and was disgruntled AND had the gall after the bears fired him to complain they should not have, and will regret firing him- to say ""To bring him back would be detrimental to the team. If he's there and not happy, he's not gonna give us his best."

High five for that...That is a true statement right there. Like Benson should be giving advice to anyone.

Benson is right on the spot, though. If Carson Palmer isn't happy with the team situation, he's going to tank the season, sort of like he did last year. Benson speaks from experience!

As far as Cincinnati Bengals free agent running back Cedric Benson is concerned, it's time for him to get paid.

“I think I’m deserving of that, I just hope a couple teams feel the same way," Benson said during an appearance on Sirius' Late Hits program. "It would be nice if it would be the Bengals, they drafted a quarterback in the second round and have young receivers, they’re going to need a horse in there."

Benson rushed for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns last season and is one of the top free agent running backs now that his two-year, $7 million contract has expired.

This marks the second time this offseason Benson has said he wants to return.

He spoke with new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden earlier this year and came away encouraged about how he could fit into the offense going forward.

“We had an interesting conversation about a lot of things,” Benson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We have a lot of things in common as far as the way we see the game.”

The feeling is mutual.

"I would love to have him back," Gruden said. "He’s the type of guy who wants to do well and that’s what we need. A physical back we can hand the ball to 20 to 25 times a game if we need to if we have the young quarterback.”
The two sides have spoken about a contract already.

“I like the direction," Benson said. "It’s kind of like the yellow brick road that we’re all looking down. Whatever they feel helps. Saying it is going to be run-game driven, enough said.

“No matter where I’m at or what team I’m with, I will be ready to rock and roll. I’m just as curious as anyone else might be about what is going to happen.”

Well at least in Chicago he is. I'm not excusing Palmer's behavior or his attitude but I am saying that Benson's comments on it are like the pot calling the kettle black. I'm glad that he's had a chance to prove he could be the back that everyone thought he could be but I'm still pissed that he wasn't willing to put in the efforst to do it for the team who drafted him.

Benson wants $$$$$$$ imagine that, LOL. He's been an asset in Cincy so maybe they'll pony up. It's too bad he didn't play more deservingly of rookie deal. Maybe he'll pay us back out of this next bonus.

How is Palmer demanding a trade different from what Cutler did two years ago?
