I agree with that statement wholeheartedly, maybe a couple of years in prison will have done him some good. Of course, he could wind up being like Adam "Pac Man" Jones and really continue to f*ck himself over with more off the field incidents that lead to him underachieving on the field. It's something to definitely watch.

TOP 5 WRs I would love to see playing for the Bears:

    5. James Jones or Jacoby Jones
    4. Mike Sims-Walker
    3. Sidney Rice
    2. Santonio Holmes
    1. Malcom Floyd

TOP 5 WRs I would hate to see playing for the Bears:

    5. Braylon Edwards
    4. Chad Ochocinco
    3. Terrell Owens
    2. Plaxico Burress
    1. Randy Moss

yep which is what i said above.. he has all to gain at least until gets a real contract, and not much to lose- the "bad' though is what kind of shape is he in? but that can be seen, put through a tests before you sign him- IF he has stayed in shape( as best he could in jail), not much risk for 1 year.. But as said alot depends on the CBA.. IF get a CBA soon, andhave real WR's then you forget about it- this is only if no real option

Why would you like floyd or holmes over rice?... rice a far superior WR to either. flyod's best year is 776 yards, rice 1,312 yards.. and unlike holmes, rice comes with no baggage or 'strikes" for being booted out of the league... holmes has aready been booted for 4 games( that's strike 2).. next time caught he's gone for the year- and you have wasted the rster spot and money on someone that can't play- why risk that over Signey rice with no strikes?

Santonio Holmes Suspended For Substance-Abuse Policy Violation

PITTSBURGH -- Wide receiver Santonio Holmes was suspended for four games on Monday, just hours after the Pittsburgh Steelers traded him to the New York Jets for a fifth-round draft pick.

Yep, and pretty much the same for me. He comes in for a low salary with little or nothing guaranteed and essentially gets a tryout to see if he can make the team, although that shouldn't be all that hard if he's retained any of his skills. I'm not very worried about his attitude or behavior because he already has two strikes against him. If he can play we got ourselves a bargain and if not we cut him.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I'm not sure that we will be able to upgrade our wide receiving corp this offseason, DB. There just doesn't appear to be any good ones out there other than maybe Braylon Edwards who are worth signing. Sidney Rice has a strike against him in my book, and that's that he missed 3/4 of last season due to injury. He's really only had one outstanding season with the Vikings and that was when Favre had that big year in 2009. We don't know that Rice will be back to his 2009 form as a receiver. Still, if he lowers his asking price and if Minnesota doesn't tender him or place a franchise tag on him (I don't remember off the top of my head whether the organization has done those things or not), I would be inclined to consider signing him. But as soon as the injury bug hit him, I would drop like a bad habit.

had to tender by march 3rd so that isn't happening on rice- depending on how F/A is strucutred will decide that now( if 4 or 5 he is a f/a)

Well then, that changes everything. I think he could be one of the next additions to the Chicago Bears!

Maybe because Malcom Floyd is one of the most underrated receivers in the league. He has more experience while playing with a franchise QB than Sidney Rice. Long a favorite target of Philip Rivers; he benefits greatly playing opposite Jackson. With defenses focusing on Jackson, Floyd was coming off a career year in 2009/2010. He tied Jackson for second in the NFL at 17.2 yards per catch. Besides, Rice has had only one good season, which doesn't prove anything.
