That aside I think it would be a great idea if that info was shared with the agents. However anything that comes out of their analysis with should be taken with a grain of salt. Their compensation comes from signed deals and right now there are none plus they may be floating a lot of expenses for their draftees. They may not be the most unbiased parties in all of this.
Hell for that matter I'd like to see a detailed outline of the last proposals from both as I'm sure so would you and we'd both be less biased than an agent so why couldn't see a copy if we asked for it too.

Oh no doubt would like to see it : ).. but under a court order gag order- so the league cant do that 'publically".. and guess figured he agent before going public, had ALREADY asked his players to ask their rep's and got nothing, for why he went public for the INFO.. find it hard to beleive a top agent would not have done that first, but maybe i'm wrong..
BtW the NFP( national football post), scored great Coup this weekend, they got leigh steinberg( the agent jerry mcquire based on) to write for them now-Should be some real interesting stuff from him- not only because such a well rspected agent and big clients, BUt also extremely intelligent and not afraid to Speak mind, and actually has ethics, which is the polar opposite of the rosensleazes of the business.

The players asking for more out of the books then they normally do is like Mayweather asking Pacquiao for a blood test before they fight; they both new it wasn't going to happen, which is what they wanted.

I don't know but if the court order doesn't preclude any info leak concerning the proposals that might be made public. That may be the reason for the info "blackout" but I'm not saying that it is. I'm in favor of it coming out in the open so that everyone could see what the battle is over $$$ wise.
Glad to hear that Steinberg will be writing about it. That may lift the lid on some of the secrecy surrounding this.

Is it possible that the court(s) might order the full disclosure of the owners' books? I know there's a gag order put on everything right now, but I am completely intrigued by this possibility.

I believe that's one of the things the players were hoping to accomplish when they took this to court. The court could order it but realistically will they? It's a part of the anti-trust case I believe and I hope this can be settled long before that sees it's day in court.

It just seems to me that with neither side willing to budge, a higher power is going to have to force one side to cave in. Right now, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals seems to favor the owners, but I don't know what will happen past that. If it's like any federal court case of which I've read about in the past, this pending case could land all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court should both sides exhaust all means to the appeals process.

Doubt it will go that far before a agreement is reached Dags. The thing is that the 8th Circuit Court on has the lockout issue in front of it. Doty has the anti-trust case and he's typically been pro players in his decisions in the past. Right now it's like a chess match with each side jockeying for position to upset the other.

Demaurie smith was/is using the NFLPA job to a politcal career, IMO.. and now realizing that "IF" as expected the Court rules for the owner's in the injuncture, he loses and willb e stright ourt defeats and hurt his politca; ambitions, so he willt ry and do a quick deal here to save his "rep" and political Ambitions and use the union as he always has dags.. watch,,( and i'll bet it will be cose to the deal he walked way from in march that he said was awful, but will do a 180 and talk about how great it is and how it was all for "the fans"..
After secret NFL labor meetings, Jerry Jones says both sides are 'trying'
By Brad Biggs, Tribune reporter 2:35 p.m. CDT, June 2, 2011
DeMaurice Smith gave a sign of two thumbs up as his limousine left Hotel Baker in St. Charles Thursday morning.
But the head of the NFLPA didn't offer up much more than that after concluding two days of clandestine meetings with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and influential owners here in the western suburbs.
I'm going to be nice," Smith said. "No comment."
Smith left the upscale hotel on the Fox River with five current and former players -- Domonique Foxworth of the Ravens, Mike Vrabel of the Chiefs, Kevin Mawae, Tony Richardson of the Jets and Jeff Saturday of the Colts. No deal was carved out between the two sides to end the lockout, and the next step is an appeal hearing Friday in St. Louis before the 8th Circuit Court.
The hope is the two sides at least explored some common ground in the talks that did not include lawyers hired to work for either side.
"That was the point of the meeting," said one of the players, who declined to go into more details. "No lawyers."
"We were here," Mawae said, smiling.
Goodell and owners Jerry Jones of the Cowboys, Robert Kraft of the Patriots and Jerry Richardson of the Panthers arrived late Tuesday afternoon using nearby DuPage Airport, a pad for private jets. The NFLPA party used commercial travel, a difference highlighted in the labor struggle between billionaires and millionaires. Through it all, the NFL is grinding along toward the third month of the lockout.
"We’re not going to make any comments," Goodell said as he climbed into the same SUV that transported Kraft to his jet at DuPage Airport on Wednesday.
Asked if there are plans to meet again soon, Goodell repeated himself. Asked if there was a reason for optimism, he politely closed the door to the vehicle.
Shortly after both sides issued a joint statement, which confirmed the meetings and nothing more.
"The parties met pursuant to court mediation," the satement read. "Owners and players were engaged in confidential discussions before Chief Magistrate Judge Boylan. The court has ordered continued confidentiality of the mediation sessions."
The 8th U.S. District Court then canceled mediation sessions scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Jones said he had an enjoyable visit to the Fox Valley as he departed in a Ford Escape rental car, a far cry from the Gulfstream jet with blue stars on the tail that he arrived in.
"We can’t make a comment about it at all but we’re trying," Jones said. "We’re trying. I think the fact that we’re meeting is good."
Who can argue with that? Clearly a deal to solve the labor mess wasn’t cut in the backyard of the Chicago Bears, but perhaps the face-to-face meetings will be an impetus for progress. At this point, with an on-time beginning to training camps quickly being threatened, any meetings have to be viewed in a positive light. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter first reported that the owners were in town to secretly meet with the NFLPA. Their report had one source saying perhaps a deal could be brokered before the end of the month. New York Giants owner John Mara and Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney were also involved, per their report. The Bears were not represented at the meetings.
Lovie Smith’s mandatory three-day minicamp was supposed to begin Friday at Halas Hall. That won’t happen. Maybe the Bears will still make it to training camp in Bourbonnais, Ill., on time.

Your expectations for a 180 degree turn around are far more optimistic than mine. When you take it this far and then turn around and take what was offered before or less you look like a stupid fool and that doesn't do your politcal hopes any good either. We'll see how it all turns out but I don't expect a quick resolution. That gulf between them is still pretty wide though.
Got a kick out of the Jerry Jones thing though. Sounds just like him playing for the image thing and thinking no one can see through it. He flys into Chicago on a $35 million dollar private jet that costs around $1 mil a year to operate but then downsizes and saves himself about $30 on the rental car, LOL. What's wrong with that picture.

Soul, neither side is very happy w/how the courts are handling these cases; better to get a deal done that is in the middle before you lose any real battle and all negotiating power.
