Agent wants his players to see NFL offer

this is interesting- Personally dont think an agent doing this to benefit clients, and asking for it, becuase he is NOT getting paid or genearing revenue with no new deals being done- so he is fustrated.. But anything at this point that puts pressure on BOTH SIDES to get to the table works for me.

Agent wants to seeowner's last proposal

Linta wants his players to see offer Aaron Wilson

Veteran NFL agent Joe Linta would like to see a copy of the latest offer from the owners.

Linta told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he would like to obtain the proposal and show it to his clients.

Linta wants to know if the offer is any good and might make sense to accept.
“I’d like to see it myself so when I talk to my 45 guys, I can show them what it is – since there is no union,’’ Linta said. “I would like Mr. Rooney to forward the offer to me. I represent two percent of the union, I’m not insignificant. Let me ask you something, who has the players’ back more, the players union or the player’s agent? Why can’t I get copy of this and disseminate it to my players?”

“You take 10 or 15 agents and you’re talking half of the league” they represent, Linta said. “Why is it that all these smart guys who are agents are being kept out of the loop? I don’t know of any agent privy to any information. They’re trying to negotiate a deal and what do agents do for a living? They negotiate deals.”

Linta is concerned there won't even be a season.

These guys are driving these players right off a cliff right now," he said. "I told a father of one of my players who got drafted, it’s 50-50 this season is not going to happen. These coaches are starting to go looney-toon too."

Sadly, he may be more right than you think about there not being a season, and if that happens, that may set the NFL back 30 years or more in terms of fan support.

I think the dude is onto something for 2 reasons.

1)They DO negotiate all the time and truely understand the give and take of the situation.

    2) Players, I don't think, are fully aware of what is on the table.

yep- Its "ironic", that a union asking for full disclosure from the league, doesn't even give its own members full disclosure of the negotiations or offers.. I mean soul, shouldn't the union be giving full transparency to its members instead of just asking the 1,000 + players to 'trust demaurice and the exec. committe"? : )

Oh agree on those points( esp the give and take that isn't happening now), just ALSO think the bigger motivation for him and other agents is the usual "june $$" and commissions literally in the millions , they are missing on all the new rookie contracts and all the new F/A contracts that are NOT being generated now. For Why he wants to gets involved and get a deal done- just do not see as "aulteristic" as he tried to portray

DB, read my post in one of the other threads. I basically ask you whether or not investment brokers hold their cards tight to their vests, etc.

Both good points and it makes perfect sense which is why this idea will be shit canned like so many other good idea that have been undone. The agents suspicions are correct though. There's at least a 50% chance that if both sides stand there ground there will be no season of at the most a shortened one.

Someone tell me again just how this lockout benefits the public, or anyone else for that matter. And that includes the owners as well since even they're beginning to sweat.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Baseball will greatly benefit from the loss of games to this NFL season. I've said this before in another thread, but losing this season or even a part of it will prove to be catastrophic to the league and may well set the NFL back about 30-40 years in terms of what it has gained in popularity.

Soul, if the union preaches want 100% disclosure, why haven't the disclosed their latest offer to their membership or evn keeping them informed of this?.. Doesn't that directly contradict the idea of full disclosure? if the union can't even do that with their own membership?

Lockout isn't good; but neither is a non CBA NFL.....tell me again how the players de certin'g was a good idea that has helped bring a deal closer; instead of brigning in more hate and wasting more time?
