Lawman Charged With Cocaine Possession
Bailey, N.C. — A Nash County deputy and father of a North Carolina football star lost his job Thursday after he was arrested on drug charges.
George Thomas Kurney, 50, of N.C. Highway 581 in Bailey, is the father of Julius Peppers, who starred on the basketball and football teams at the University of North Carolina before going pro with the Carolina Panthers.
He was arrested Wedesday along with Donald Earl Bullock, 46, of Sims School Road in Sims, on charges of possession of cocaine.
The Nash County Sheriff's Office, Tarboro and Wilson police departments and the State Bureau of Investigation collaborated on the investigation. Both men were being held Thursday in the Wilson County Jail.
