Big Suh's thinking big, talking Super Bowl
We all know the kitties can go 0-16, but talking 16-0, when haven't had even a winning season in over a decade a little over the top- they lions never seem to learn.. the hype IMO will swallow them as did in 2008( when they went 7-9 in 2007 and everyonetalking playoff ad went 0-16 instead)... think they would be alot better not talking as much esp at 16-0...

The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year told the Detroit News the once beleaguered Lions can go undefeated.
"Like I said before, we can go 16-0," said Suh, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie when he recorded 10 sacks. "One of the reasons I'm saying this is because we should shoot for the top. And if you don't want to be a Super Bowl team, what are you playing for? If you are satisfied with winning games and just making the playoffs, I think you should expect more.
"There is more to just playing and trying to win games. That is my mentality and that is my approach. We should come in with the attitude of the sky is the limit and we want to be the best."
Suh is looking forward to working with first-round defensive tackle Nick Fairley and continuing to work in tandem with veteran defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch.
"I am not shy about expressing myself," Suh said. "But the best way is for me to meet him and be around him and work out together. I definitely look forward to helping him. If he wants me to be his mentor, that's fine. But I look at it as being a good friend who has a year up on him. ..
"We can definitely be the strongest lines in the NFL as long as we continue to work. We are going to be an indestructible force. We want to be that steel curtain, definitely unstoppable in the run game, and be a game-changing defense. That starts with the defensive line. That definitely has to be the mentality that we have."

It seems hard to believe, but the Lions have a lot of the necessary pieces in place to compete at a strong level. I can see them having a 8-8 season in 2011, maybe even a winning season. But talking Super Bowl is hilarious. What did he smoke? :D

exactly LB.. why put a target on back?( ask lebron how that worked out), the kitties have been a joke for the better part of 50+ years-why not enjoy that "maybe" the franchise is finally turning a corner from awful to at least competitive, and be happy for that- instead of hyping 16-0 and SB, that will just lead to dissapointment in most cases. time for a muzzle until proveit on field first...

this is the first time in recent memory I didn't bust out laughing after hearing Lions and Super Bowl in the same sentance. In fact, i'm actually glad to see them talk about it, expect it of themselves, and could ACTUALLY have a shot if everyone stays healthy.
they have a Great running Back in Jahvid Best a Great QB in Stafford (if he can stay healthy) one of the best D-lines in the NFL. they have great talent. lol.. FOR ONCE.

Funny how the rest of the paragraph got overlooked, after he said "we CAN go 16-0"
Key word is can. Any team can. But not very likely. He NEVER said they WOULD, just they can.
The rest of it though, is what he is reay saying

Funny, if Urls or another Bear said this part people would be talking about how they love his confidence.

They may be he Lions, but give the man props for showing the same confidence you applaud when a Bears player talks similar things.

if a team has been to the playoff's, been close had a few let's say divsion titles. saying you CAN win the Sb is fine..BUT when your team stinks, hasn't had a winning season in over a decade, just went 6-10 nd saying can go undefeated is pretty rediculous.. urlacher has been 2 NFC champsionships games recently, so makes sense o say CAN do it.. if the mid 90's bears of wanny/mmc and cade mcnown talked about going undefated and winning the Sb , he would be roasted and killed.. and rightfully so.. and those crappy teams still has more wins than the lions recently for the difference benj

Depending on if this team can stay healthy I would not look past this team anymore. Their record says they suck but they have lost a lot of close games. They have also been blown out in a few games but they have been very competitive last year. I can see the qbs in the NFC running for their lives this year with the DL the lions have. I think this team has been making huge improvements over the last couple of years. I would say this is the suprise team of the NFC if there is a season.

Hypothetically, if he had said "no our team is not good enough to make the super bowl, we may not even make the playoffs" you would roast him for not thinking his team can do anything.
I dont care what the record is, showing confidence that your team can make noise and could win the Super Bowl should be applauded.
Seriously, what should he have said in your opinion if asked what he felt about the chances this year?

"we are an improving ball club and have a chance this year to compete and make the playoffs"...
nothing more is needed esp not 16-0 or Sb( even if feel that way in private.. hell this board roasts lovie each time he's positive abou bears( i remember the thread killing lovie nad bears before last year when he said bears woul compete for the SB), and you have no problem with 4h and others criticizing the team or when people are positive about bears, why the suddent change and somehow "nothing wrong with positive for lions".. but each and ever year it is for bears?.. its really a strange dichotomy on a bears fan site

I don't have a problem with Bears having confidence either. I may not believe it sometimes, but I applaud the confident attitude.
Same with him. Do I think they will make the Super Bowl? Hell no. But I applaud him for saying his team could get there.
He is shooting for the top, as all players should. I believe even you used that argument at one time or another for the bears
