They screwed the pooch back in the 90's when they stopped letting Junior college kids transfer in; that's when Lou finally gave up and left. Said they couldn't recruit to their standards w/the limitations the school had set. And he was right. We'll see what the new guy can do, but Cincy can get 2nd rate students that might have been 1st-3rd teir athletes that were passed up b/c of acedimics by the big time programs that ND cannot get.
If they would loosen those requirements they'd be right back to being a national contender. They still recruit from accross the country. And even USC went through a downturn, and did FSU/Mia/FL and Ohio St is about to. All the big programs do; ND's has just been longer.

But even you have to admit that Notre Dame has largely produced a disproportionate amount of busts or no-name players over the past generation compared to what they were like before hand.

No doubt- and alot of that has to do with the changes in the game, ND keeping the higher acadenic standards etc etc.. Just showing they still are amoung the top program's in producing NFL talent.. but because have basically their own network( nbc), people KNOW their players alot more than other schools, becuase see/hear it each week, so not the players fault more highly scrutinized and known before draft, so because of this more hyped..and 'seems" like more busts, when isn't, just know the names more than most schools

I'd like for Notre Dame to get back to being a powerhouse in college football in order to give Tennessee some team to look forward to playing in the out-of-conference schedule every few years aside from playing UCLA or some other team from out of the Pac-12. It used to be fun to play Notre Dame because the Notre Dame/Tennessee match ups were so big back in the early 90s/late 90s - early 2000s/mid 2000s. I hope Chip Kelly can bring Notre Dame back to respectability.

That just goes to show just how shitty Quinn has been so far in his career. The only way he even gets a start is if Orton is gone and Tebow goes down for the count which isn't too likely. Other than that John Elway as a better chance of coming out of retirement than Quinn does of starting. He hasn't even been mentioned in that regard all off season.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Forgive me, my friend, for I know not the way to enlightenment! Chip Kelly is a cheater at Oregon, and I should not compare those two coaches.
