I don't like it, but it's highly successfull. I don't like soccor, but guess the fuck what, it's also very successfull. I'm able to put my feelings for something on the side while talking about whats best for something else. Besides it's not the season being to long I don't like about baseball, it's the fact the games are too long, there is only a handfull of teams that can seriously compete year in year out, and the fact that the cubs will always have shitty ownership.

or we could just leave it a 16 game schedule like I said earlier. and it's kinda funny cause all the PLAYERS pretty much say the same thing and I tend to agree with the players for the simple fact that THEY KNOW BETTER THAN ANYONE about the risks and rewards of adding games.
but your right... it should be about what the fans want an nothing else right? 16 games and the playoffs is plenty.
thn we would still be playign 12 games Soul : ) same arguments heard when changed to 14 nd then 16.. injuries DIDN"T go up.. rtings didn't go down and no one cared more games played.. not sure why '16" is "magic" over 14 or 12..or 18
And if playing the SAME 20 games.. and 2 less preseason games, i'm 100% FOR IT.. as give a meaningful game with REAL PLAYERS for my money, over 30+ guys that will be cut the following week as have now in the 4th preseason game.. and IMO if go to 2 preseason games, they will bring back the 'team scrimmages" used to have in 1970's 1980's for more camp competition

Not the same DB. The league has expended since the 12 game schedule and again since the 14. This isn't being done to accomodate new teams it's being done to increase broadcast revenue. I'm not going to carry a picket sign and march against it but I don't think the league needs more games or a longer season.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

and I do think league expansion will happen in the NFL again also. Just saying from a Season ticket holder perspective, paying $130 for 2 for preseason games I and most do not go to SUCKS.. So having one of those games now be a "real game" and real players, is a benefit for me( may not be for others). And when players do want more money, IMO this will be the "bargaining chip" used to get them more money.. just think its inevitable, just like 16 from 14 from 12 was.

How do they know? Did they play 12 or 14 games back when that was the norm? Have the played in 18-20 game seasons? No. Of course the players don't want to add more games, do you want to add more hours to your work week?
IYHO 16+playoffs is plenty, IMHO 18, or even 20+playoffs is even better. There is no science that says your career shortens, over longer playing time, nor is there evidence(as DB states below) that injuries go up. And your point about leaving the fans wanting more is also a myth b/c the game has grown exponentially w/the addition of games. All your points are moot.
Again I'm not 100% no matter how they do this for it. You have to remove some of the pre season bs games, you have to expand the roster, and add a bye week and a playoff week into the mix to make this viable for the players and the owners. But a few more weeks of NFL is only better for the fans, ecpseically when the only real sport all summer is Baseball....and womens basketball....ugh.....

Wonder how they expand...I could see two teams, one in Mexico City and another in Canada to make it an "international" sport. Where else do they expand to? Maybe somewhere in the midwest like Omaha or Oklahoma? Maybe another team in Tx, in San Antonio? God know if CA can expand into 4-5 teams, Tx can esaily hold a 3rd.
