Bengals in 1st Place, in arrest that is......

I hate to beat this horse to death but what is it with Cincy? Thirty-Five arrests since 2000?

Mike Brown needs to send these guys to an offseason anger management retreat somewhere in the Andes.

The Cincinnati Bengals are alrasdy leading the NFL in one statistical category: arrests.

With three arrests in eight days, the AFC North franchise has had a lot of off-field issues lately. Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is facing misdemeanor charges following an incident at a bar, and safety Marvin White is facing an assault case in Louisiana and running back Cedric Benson was arrested Sunday and charged with misdemeanor assault.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals have had 35 arrests since 2000. That ranks them first in the league.
"The team is aware of the incidents," Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said. "However, as with most situations of this nature, it would be inappropriate for the team to comment until the matters are resolved through normal legal channels."

    Benson is out on bail;

The two had difficulties resulting from Mr. Benson asking the former male roommate to leave his home a few days prior to this incident," Benson's lawyer, Sam Bassett, said. The conflict became physical early this morning, and we intend to fully investigate. There is not enough information available at this time for further comment."

Per the arrest report, Benson confronted his former roommate at 4:45 a.m. and was "hostile and aggressive." The man alleged that after a discussion, "All of a sudden, he was struck on his face with a closed fist thrown by Benson," followed by more punches that triggered injuries to the left side of his face.

Jones' misdemeanor disorderly conduct and resisting arrest arraignment is set for today.

According to other reports Benson's other Texas arrest for assault resulting from an altercation in a bar was dismissed. Maybe he's not the criminal this paints him to be but he sure is guilty of lousy judgement if he keeps putting himself into situations where this shit can happen. Not too bright that one, LOL.

Fault the owners that keep employing these clowns. If it were not for these huge salaries they guys made playing football most of them would be in prison or dead right now.

No kidding. The rest of us would not get away with what some of these guys do without jail or at the very least losing our jobs and all that we own. Makes me wish I was 6'3" 220lbs and could run a 4.3 forty, LOL.

Make that 36 arrests if we're counting former Bengals too. Webster hasn't been retired that long. I know that it's innocent until proven guilty but if this is even close to being true it's sick. They ought to change the team name to the "Cincinnati Psychopaths".

Former Bengals linebacker accused of seven felony sex crimes Aaron Wilson

Former Cincinnati Bengals middle linebacker Nate Webster allegedly made death threats against the 15-year-old girl he's accused of repeatedly having sex with, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Webster has been indicted on seven felony sex crimes. “It’s a disgusting thing to live under the threat of this,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said. "There is overwhelming evidence of his guilt."

Law enforcement authorities said Webster was a friend of the family who repaid that friendship by repeatedly having sex with the teenager and threatening her with a gun so as to not reveal what was going on. The explosive accusations stem from Webster's alleged actions in 2009. Per the report, Webster was 31 and the girl was 15 when the relationship began.

Webster was indicted by a grand jury on the following charges: sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and five counts of unlawful sex with a minor. If convicted, the retired NFL player could go to prison for 36 1/2 years.

Here's the latest on the Benson case. Maybe these guys should all chip in, hire one attorney and split the fees, LOL.

Lawyers say they will vigorously defend free agent RB Brad Biggs

The man who free agent running back Cedric Benson allegedly punched in the face last weekend has tried to make as cash grab.
That’s what attorneys representing Benson have said, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Benson’s lawyers Wm. David Cornwell Sr. and Sam Bassett released the following statement to Reedy:

“Thomas Crosley, the attorney for Clavens “Miami” Charles, the individual involved in the incident with Cedric Benson this weekend, contacted us yesterday to demand a “settlement” meeting. This attorney stated that if we did not respond within a short period, Mr. Charles would respond to media requests, including a request for an interview from TMZ. We have learned that Mr. Charles’ representatives have contacted at least one public relations firm to assist them with publicity.

“There is nothing to settle with Charles. In fact, we intend to confront Charles in defending the misdemeanor charges against Cedric. Cedric did not act without provocation.

“Cedric regrets the events of this weekend and he is committed to addressing any concerns that NFL teams may have. But, he will do so unburdened by the threat of extortion.”

Benson was arrested in the early morning hours Sunday in Austin, Texas. According to the police affidavit, Charles was talking on his phone on a downtown street corner at 4:45 a.m. when a “hostile and aggressive” Benson attacked him. Benson was arrested shortly thereafter and posted $10,000 bond that afternoon. Benson goes on trial for an assault charge stemming from an incident last year at an Austin bar in August.

When the new league year begins, Benson will be a free agent. Whether or not he will re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals remains to be seen.
