While the owners are halfway through their day in a meeting in Atlanta, the players will hold a teleconference this evening.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith will hold a conference call with the 32 player representatives beginning at 8 p.m. (EDT), according to many reports. During that call, the players could hold a vote in terms of ratifying the tentative agreement the group has struck with the owners.

It is believed the owners will approve the deal in their meeting later today, putting the ball in the court of the players. But this isn’t a done deal yet. Whether we have one tonight, who knows? Stay tuned.

Well all this is saying is that we may have a tenative agreement tonight. Tenative???? So when does it become permanent and real?

It's getting to the point where it's hard to know anymore what's going on. One article says that the lawsuits must be resolved before the owners will vote, another says there are no issues with the lawsuits, and still another says there are all sorts of smaller issues yet to be done and yesterday player rep Kevin Mawae says they're not going to rush things. So who the hell knows what gonna happen next.

There's a link to comments about this article and the first one is worth reading if you have the time. In the meantime I think I'll get a nap in. Wake me when they open for business, LOL.

It really has become all about drawing straws. What will happen? Who will it impact? At this point, I'm starting to grow disenfranchised with the NFL and, really, just becoming apathetic. I want there to be a deal so badly, but it doesn't seem like anyone either on the side of the NFL owners or the NFLPA really gives two shits on whether or not football is going to be played on time. We had speculated for about a month now that sometime by the early to mid part of July, a deal would be struck. Now, we're in late July, and nothing has been accomplished yet other than a vote by the owners ratifying their draft of the CBA. The players are now dragging their feet in getting together to read the owners copy. What could the players possibly disagree in principle over when they've had representatives for the past several weeks working side-by-side with the owners on hammering out this agreement, as well as the their own team of lawyers and legal representation? That's just crazy and asinine to think about.

With any luck it's going to the players as I post this. At noon EDT and 11:00am CDT they should have read the language in the agreement over and are either satisfied with it or not. Either way this is gonna get done within the next 24 hours.
