And Steve Breaston gone too apparently to KC: http://goo.gl/mipDW
Has agreed to a 5-year deal that includes $9 million guaranteed.
Given the needs elsewhere it's pretty easy to see why high profile WR's weren't at the top of our list. Rice with $44 mil/5yrs and Holmes with $50 mil/5 yrs. At least the Olineman are still going for less than $9-$10 mil per year.

Now that is just f'n crazy when they could have had Orton for the 2nd alone (maybe even a 3rd) and his $8 mil paycheck this year and probably could have extended his deal for less than half of Kolb will want. All I can say is thank God we don't have to be involved in the QB sweepstakes anymore. The deal we made for Cutler looks better and better all the time and on top of that it looks like we've got a very good #2 in Hanie.

Hasselbeck to the Titans. Probably a good move for both.

AP Source: Titans agree to deal with Hasselbeck

By TERESA M. WALKER, AP Sports Writer 2 hours, 55 minutes ago

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—The Tennessee Titans have reached a deal with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck(notes), according to a person familiar with the agreement.

Hasselbeck spent the past 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, and the Titans are hoping he can bring stability to the position and work with rookieJake Locker(notes), the No. 8 overall draft pick. Veteran Kerry Collins(notes) retired three weeks ago, the Titans plan to trade or release Vince Young(notes) before training camp opens Friday.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. ESPN.com first reported the agreement, which was reached Wednesday morning. Free agents aren’t allowed to sign contracts until Friday, and terms of Hasselbeck’s agreement were not immediately available.

“I think it’s a good move,” Titans wide receiver Damien Williams said Wednesday. “Obviously, we’ve got a bunch of young guys with Jake and Rusty (Smith) and they’re not quite acclimated. We’ve got a brand new system, so to bring in a veteran that knows how to adapt quickly I think that’s a good move. Those guys can have someone to learn from.”

The Seahawks reached a deal Tuesday with quarterback Tarvaris Jackson(notes), a clear sign they were moving on without Hasselbeck. Back in January, coach Pete Carroll pronounced that re-signing Hasselbeck was Seattle’s No. 1 priority, but the two sides could not reach an agreement before the 4 1/2 -month NFL lockout.

During the 2010 season, the 35-year-old Hasselbeck played in 14 games, throwing for 3,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing 59.9 percent of his passes. Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1998 draft, the three-time Pro Bowl selection has 29,579 yards passing, 176 touchdowns and 128 interceptions while completing 60.1 percent of his passes in 12 seasons.

Hasselbeck comes to Tennessee already familiar with Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt, who worked in the Seahawks’ front office before joining the Titans in 2007, and Locker, who played for the Washington Huskies. “From college to the NFL is a big adjustment,” tight end Jared Cook(notes) said.“To have somebody to learn under, especially somebody as experienced as Matt Hasselback, I think is going to benefit all our quarterbacks.”

In the post-lockout rush to complete rosters, the Titans needed to sign nine draft picks, including Locker, work to keep some of their own free agents and possibly add a veteran defensive tackle, linebacker and safety. They agreed to terms with 14 undrafted rookies Tuesday.
The challenges don’t end with signing players, either. The start of training camp will mark the first time players get to work out with coach Mike Munchak and a staff of new assistants

And the Eagles score again. Now this is what I call aggressive Free Agency Jerry.

Eagles formally announce signing of QB Young

    11 hours, 33 minutes ago

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP)—After a busy day at Lehigh University, on Day 1 of training camp, the Philadelphia Eagles closed up shop by formally announcing a one-year deal for Vince Young(notes).
Young, a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback and a former first-round pick of Tennessee, will replace Kevin Kolb(notes) as Michael Vick’s(notes) backup.

A standout at Texas, where he went 30-2 and led the Longhorns to a national championship only to have an up-and-down career with the Titans, Young will get a fresh start in Philadelphia, and won’t have to deal with the pressure of performing right off the bat.
Released on Thursday after five years with the Titans, Young became the fourth Pro Bowl player to be acquired by the Eagles in two days, joining cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(notes) and Nnamdi Asomugha(notes), as well as defensive end Jason Babin(notes).
Young, 28, won 30 of 47 starts with the Titans, but owner Bud Adams announced in January that the team planned to cut ties. His antics off the field, as much as his performance on it, probably cost him his job there.

After an overtime loss to the Redskins in November in Nashville, the Titans’third straight with Young under center, he threw his shoulder pads at booing fans and then had a postgame confrontation with coach Jeff Fisher. He never played again.

With the Eagles, Young gets a fresh start and a chance to learn under coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, who, in just two years, helped re-energize Vick into an MVP candidate and Pro Bowl starter after his own troubled past. “I’m looking forward to working with him,” Vick said. “I think Vince will mature as a player. Get him in here and make him a better player. “And if we ever need him, he’s there for us.”

Young finished second to Reggie Bush(notes) in the 2005 Heisman Trophy voting, when he led Texas to an 11-0 record, including that historic 41-38 win over previously undefeated USC in the BCS national title game. In the win, Young threw for 267 yards and ran for 200 more.

In five NFL seasons, Young has completed 58 percent of his passes with 42 touchdowns and as many interceptions. He’s rushed for 1,380 yards, with a 5.2-yard average, and 12 more touchdowns.

The Eagles open the preseason on Aug. 11 vs. Baltimore at home. They’ll open the regular season on Sept. 11, at St. Louis.

If he wanted to off himself in Tennessee he'll really want to off himself in Philly if he starts stinking it up with the way their fans are.

Despite that he's with the right team. He'll be thought of as the second coming on Randall Cunningham until he proves differently. Backing up Mike Vick is a perfect job for him right now since by in large he's just a bigger version of him. If you had to pick a place to go where you might be able to turn it around Philly would be high on the list after they traded Kolb.

AP source: Jets agree to terms with CB Cromartie

By DENNIS WASZAK Jr., AP Sports Writer 12 hours, 2 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP)—After losing out on Nnamdi Asomugha(notes), the New York Jetsturned to their backup plan: the guy they were trying to replace.

“They say Cro is back, Cro is back all GangGreen fans say is Cro…lol,”Cromartie wrote on his Twitter page. “I’m on my FLT headed home glad 2 b a JET…let’s go win a Superbowl.”

The move capped a huge day for the Jets, who signed wide receiver Plaxico Burress(notes) to a one-year deal earlier Sunday.
After signing wide receiver Santonio Holmes(notes), their top priority, the Jets went after Asomugha and were one of the favorites to land the most-coveted player in free agency. But Asomugha surprisingly signed with Philadelphia, leaving New York to turn to a familiar face.
The Daily News and ESPN New York reported the deal is worth $32 million. Cromartie had said recently that he wasn’t going to give the Jets “a hometown discount” despite wanting to be back with the team, but took less than Asomugha got from the Eagles and what Johnathan Joseph(notes) got from the Houston Texans.

New York made it clear it wanted Asomugha, who was considered an upgrade from Cromartie. Not that Cromartie was at all bad last season. Coach Rex Ryan just imagined a “No-Fly Zone” secondary with Revis and Asomugha, both considered by many to be the best cornerbacks in the league. Apparently, Cromartie had no hard feelings. And, if there were, it was nothing a long-term deal couldn’t fix.

Getting Cromartie back is a nice fallback for the Jets, who would have been scrambling to find a replacement. They drafted Kyle Wilson(notes) in the first round last year, but he might not be ready to be a starter after struggling mightily early last season. Cromartie, who also drew interest from Oakland and San Francisco, had some impressive moments at times for the Jets, and seamlessly filled in for an injured Revis early last season as the team’s top cornerback. He even showed he could be a solid kickoff returner, setting up the winning touchdown in the playoffs against Indianapolis with a 47-yard return.

The Jets could use him in that role again this season after losing versatileBrad Smith(notes), the team’s primary kick returner a year ago, to Buffalo.

New York acquired the talented but troubled Cromartie from San Diego for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2011—which became a second-rounder based on his production. He was considered one of the rising talents in the league in 2007, when he was an All-Pro in his second season after getting an NFL-leading 10 interceptions, but struggled on and off the field. Cromartie’s tackling was an issue in San Diego, but he vowed to get better when he came to New York, and clearly improved in that area although he led the defense in penalties.
Cromartie was also dealing with paternity issues at the time of the deal, with seven children by several women, but the Jets advanced him $500,000 to help clear that up. He has since married reality TV star and model Terricka Cason, and often tweets about the joys of family life and his faith.

The Jets reported for training camp at their facility in Florham Park, N.J., on Sunday, with their first practice scheduled for Monday afternoon. “Ok guys taking off c u guys at Florham Park,” Cromartie tweeted early Monday. “God Bless u all…Jet sailing 2 be a JET…goodnight 2 some and good morning to others I’m out.”
