    The Eagles Strike Again......................

I know we have a thread started already for other teams signings but these guys deserve their own. When a team decides that it needs to improve itself in order to stay or get more competitive this is how you do it!

Jerry Angelo, if these guys are giving a seminar on how to fix your holes I sincerely hope that you will attend. The Eagles got absolutely torched through the air last year so how did they go about assuring that wouldn't happen again this year.

Try adding Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Roger-Cromartie to Asante Samuel at CB and signing Cullen Jenkins (7 sacks) and Jason Babin (12.5) sacks for your Dline. Now that's what I call aggressively meeting your needs.

When the Philadelphia Eagles said they were planning to make a run at it this season, they weren’t kidding.
Cullen Jenkins will bring a 300-pound frame and a Super Bowl ring to Philly.

Less than 24 hours after signing the biggest free agent on the market in cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, the Birds continued to upgrade their defense by agreeing to terms on a five-year, $25 million contract with defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins.

The 30-year-old Jenkins is coming off a career-high seven-sack season with the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. Now an Eagle, Jenkins will be an upgrade to the current defensive tackle tandem of Mike Patterson and Broderick Bunkley.

We’d say the move puts the finishing touches on a monster week that has seen Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jason Babin, Nnamdi Asomugha, Vince Young and now Jenkins become Eagles, but we still aren’t sure if these guys are finished wheeling and dealing.

I guess some of you may wonder why I'm a little pissed so far. Well when you see one of your 2011 opponents beefing up a trouble spot while your team spends it's time failing to beef up theirs you gotta ask some questions about what's going on in Lake Forest and just how committed are the Bears to getting better this year?

Not sure of the exact but I guess it safe to use the answer..............enough! Babin and Jenkins were $28.5 and $25 mil deals respectively, they gave Asomugha $60 mil and I'm sure that Rogers-Cromarties contract wasn't cheap so it's hard to say. I know this much though. The Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFL at managing their cap and they've gotten their QB's cheap which is where a lot of other teams cap is tied up.

From what I read they pretty much let all their free agents walk which is how they had the money to make all these deals. I doubt this brings them a Super Bowl. If you look at teams like the Packers, Steelers, Pats, and to a lesser extent the Colts who have all been successful and been to Super Bowls they all build from within. They draft and develop their own players and don't often make big splashes in FA other than re-signing their own players. There's going to be very little chemistry on that team with the amount of turnover they're creating coupled with the short offseason due to the lockout. They may make the playoffs but I don't see a Super Bowl - at least not this season.

I'm sure they had to clear our some vet salaries to make room but they still pay their QB's shit comparitively speaking.
