For a team that entered training camp with so much promise, the Detroit Lions continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.

After being carted off the field Monday morning with a lower leg injury, rookie running back Mikel Leshoure will miss the entire 2011 season due to a torn Achilles, head coach Jim Schwartz told the media.

Leshoure—a second-round pick out of Illinois—was expected to play an integral role in Detroit’s running game this season along with dual-threat back Jahvid Best.

With Leshore out, veteran Maurice Morris will step into the No. 2 role unless the Lions plan on signing any of the free agent running backs who are still available on the open market.
