There's no way it could be worse than last year. Omiyale isn't starting at LT. I don't expect much to begin with but if the talent is there like Tice thinks it is they'll progress into a decent unit in time to tear the Pack a new one come playoff time.

Now that I've heard both Tice's and Greg Gabriel's take on the talent on hand I'll dispute that with you although I will admit that a week or two ago I pretty much felt the same way. I don't think either of these guys would have commented the way they did if it was all just a hope and a dream even though I do joke about it that way.
We drafted the one guy who I think is and will become the best OT taken in the first round of the draft. I'm convinced that Carimi has pro-bowl OT written all over him so that's at least a 20% improvement over having to use OMG last year because we had no other choice.
Webb is another year along in his development at OT and while we're all holding our collective breath that he can make the switch over to LT he can't be worse than OMG was last year. His size alone should make it harder for rusher to even get around him on many plays. He doesn't need to be another Jonathan Ogden or Joe Thomas all he needs to do is hold up better than OMG did and there'll be improvement. Overall I don't think the Bears choices in drafting young OT's leaves us any worse off and maybe better off than the Packers drafting of Bulaga and Sherrod.
I'm more concerned about the interior of the line than at OT. That's where we could have used vet help and we didn't get it so it all comes down to whether CWill and Louis are one year better than they were in 2010. Actually I'm more concerned about that than I am Garza replacing Kruetz. Undeniably they have the size and athleticism to be good but have they improved mentally in technique wise enough to depend on especially as pass blockers although Tice claims that's where Louis excels.
They're gonna experience some problems early in the season but I can see them getting better as the year progresses.

This line has a long time to go before I give them any second thought that they might be even slightly better than last year

I think mo may have the right idea. Sign a vet OG like Brian Water for LG, play Spencer at OC, move Garza back to RG and let Carimi and CWill compete for LT with the other going to RT and let Webb simmer for another year as a swing OT. Mo was at the game and he said Webb reminded him way to much of Q Mitchell another of our former attempts to make a LT out of an athletic wonder who also may not have had the brains to come in out of the rain.
Webb's problem may be that he just doesn't get it more than it is his lack to skills. You can have all the athleticism in the world but if you don't know where to be and who to block as an Olineman your screwed. That may be both Webb and Louis problem.
