2 shot in SF parking lot after Raiders-49ers game

SAN FRANCISCO—Police sought suspects Sunday after gunfire erupted the night before in a stadium parking lot following a San Francisco 49ers NFL preseason game, injuring two men, including one victim who was wearing a "F--- the Niners" T-shirt.

That 24-year-old man, who was in critical condition, was shot several times in the stomach before stumbling to Candlestick Park stadium security for help, police said. Another man sustained lesser injuries in a separate shooting, police said. It wasn't known whether the same assailant or assailants were responsible for both attacks, or if the shootings were otherwise linked.

The violence occurred after the 49ers' 17-3 victory Saturday night over their cross-bay rivals, the Oakland Raiders.

Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said Sunday that no suspects were in custody and that "I have no suspect description at this time."

The critically injured man was being treated at San Francisco General Hospital for life-threatening injuries, and a 20-year-old man was hospitalized with less serious wounds, Andraychack told The Associated Press. Their names have not been released.

Andraychak said police were interviewing witnesses Sunday, and encouraged others who may have tips or seen the violence to come forward. A number of fights were also reported during Saturday's game but there was no indication those fights had any connection to the attacks outside the stadium.

The attacks come about five months after a San Francisco Giants fan was severely beaten by two men in Los Angeles Dodgers gear outside Dodger Stadium after the archrivals season opener March 31. Two suspects have been charged in the case.

Police Sgt. Frank Harrell said Saturday that the man shot wearing a T-shirt referring to the 49ers with an obscenity, drove his truck to a gate and stumbled to stadium security. The other man was shot before that in the parking lot and had superficial face injuries, Harrell said.

Harrell told reporters outside the stadium that the two shootings were being treated separately "but we believe they are related." He did not elaborate. The 49ers issued a statement acknowledging the shootings and the investigation, but offered no additional details.

A spokesman for San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said the mayor would issue a statement Sunday afternoon.

In violence during the game, a 26-year-old San Rafael man was assaulted and knocked unconscious in a men's restroom. Police said he was hospitalized and a suspect was arrested. But there is no indication that the beating was connected to the postgame shootings, Andraychak said Sunday.
In the Giants fan attack in March, the two men accused in the beating, Louie Sanchez, 28, and Marvin Norwood, 30, have pleaded not guilty. Bryan Stow, a Santa Cruz paramedic, suffered severe brain injuries and remains hospitalized. That attack drew widespread attention and focusing the spotlight on security at Dodger Stadium, and the intense rivalry among Dodgers and Giants fans.

Bear fans aren't worth the cost of the bullet so I don't think it will ever be an issue.

Ever since Favre left the Packers my Packer bashing material is at an all time low.
